COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 23, 1989
NEW BUSINESS
Review Burning Permits - This item was carried over from the
January 9, 1989 Council agenda. Mr. Neal moved to direct the
City Attorney to prepare a draft ordinance that would require
the purchase of a burning permit with stated penalities if a
permit is not obtained. Mr. Reinert seconded the motion.
Mr. Reinert felt that if the City charges for the permit,
people will just go ahead and burn without a permit. Mr.
Neal noted that now the City has nothing to issue a citation
on if a person illegally burns on his property.
Mr. Neal suggested that the ordinance could contain language
that would allow the fire department to send a bill to the
resident who did not obtain a burning permit.
Voting on the motion, motion failed with Mr. Bisel, Mr.
Reinert and Mayor Benson voting no.
Mayor Benson asked that this be addressed by the Steering
Committee.
Consideration of a Gas Pump Ordinance - Mayor Benson asked
that this be addressed by the Steering Committee as well. It
was noted that items such as these should be uniform
throughout the fire district.
Mayor Benson noted that there will be a meeting of the Forest
Lake Youth Service Bureau Board of Directors. Mr. Neal and
Mr. Bohjanen will be attending.
Mayor Benson asked that the meeting with the Assessor to view
certain properties in Lino Lakes be set for the end of March
when Mr. Reinert returns from his vacation.
A meeting was set for Saturday, February 11, 1989 at 8:00
A.M. to discuss the goals and objectives for the City
Administrator.
Mr. Neal told the Council about his involvement with the
Anoka County Community Action Board and how he was called to
a residence in another city where the owner had been
hospitalized. The condition of her residence was deplorable
and he noted that the Anoka County Health Department allowed
the lady to return to the residence. Mayor Benson asked Mr.
Schumacher to call the Anoka County Health Department to
determine how such a matter would be handled in Lino Lakes.
Ordinance No. 03 - 89, Charter Amendment - Mr. Schumacher
explained that the Charter Commission met on Thursday evening
and moved to recommend that the Council pass the proposed
Charter amendment replacing Chapter 8 with State Statute 429.
1
1
