August 26, 1974
Mr. Marier asked if a joint powers with other municipalities had been explored.
Mr. Jaworski said, somewhat but not in depth. Mr. Jaworski discussed what had
n offered in 1971 by Anoka County at a cost of $133,000.00 - one car stationed
in Lino Lakes for 24 hours a day and the back up assistance that we now receive.
Mr. McLean asked if this can be run with just three cars? Are the wages compatible?
Mr. Jaworski felt that it could be done with the three cars and the wages are on
the low side. How about the Chief's salary? That, too, is on the low side.
Mr. Marier asked the total number of personnel - Mr. Jaworski - eight, four full -
time and four part time. Mr. Jaworski said this budget is operating close, these
figures are not exaggerated - there is no padding.
Mr. McLean asked about dispatching - Mr. Jaworski said that would continue to be out
of Central Communications in Anoka. All Police DEpartments are dispatched from that
location.
Mr. McLean wondered if the equipment allowance was enough. Mr. Jaworski thought this
was enough, they will be operating with the same personnel - may need some additional
office equipment.
Mr. McLean said that with his experience in getting new ventures off the ground, he
would think these figures should be padded in order to give the department a firm
base. Mr. Jaworski said that he felt they should stay with these figures.
Mr. Marier said that this is a well thought out presentation and he felt that the
Commission had done a thorough study. He would like some time to study this before
making a decision.
Mr. McLean asked about the Clerk- Typist - would she be just a Clerk - Typist? Mr.
Jaworski said this person would also be used to search female prisoners and possibly
assist with juveniles. She would be a policewoman - Clerk - Typist combination.
1
1
Mr. Jaworski said that the Centerville Council had attended their last meeting and
were also here this evening. They had asked that any decision on this proposal be
delayed until their Council has a chance to discuss this with the people of Centerville.
Mr. Marier moved to table decision on this proposal until both Centerville and Lino
Lakes Council members have a change to study the proposal. Seconded by Mr. McLean.
Motion carried.
The Council suggested that Mr. Jaworski look into office expansion - job descriptions
and the figures suggested for repairs. Mr. Jaworski will have the final figures for the
budget meetings and the Sept. 9, 1974 Council meeting.
Mr. Jaworski asked the feelings of the Council as to replacing the Patrol Car that was
wrecked. Mr. Marier said that at the present time he felt the two cars were sufficient,
the third car can be discussed at budget meetings.
Mr. Jaworski felt that with only two cars, if one requires repairs, this leaves only
the one car for coverage of the entir (City and Centerville. This spreads the
coverage awfully thin,.
Mr. Marier suggested renting a car if necessary until this program is studied.
