February 24, 1975.
Mayor Bohjanen asked if the Council felt that the building inspector could
fill in until a person could be found to fill this position. Mr. Marier felt
that the Building Inspector has enough to do and does not have the time for this.
Mr. Zelinka said that if the Fire Marshall is to do his job correctly, then
all businesses must be visited and not many people feel that the job is worth
the hassle they get from these people.
Mr. Marier asked Mayor Bohjanen if he needed some names for that position and
Mayor Bohjanen said, Yes. Mr. Marier said he would try to have some for the
next Council Meeting.
Mr. McLean asked, since Mr. Backlin is no longer designated as Public Works
Director, is it necessary to designate him to another position?
Mr. Zelinka did not think so, Mr. Backlin is on a leave of absence until his
condition is stablilzed. Mr. McLean felt that his position should be clarified
for his benefit.
Mr. Zelinka reported that the welder that he had said was around $110.00 had
gone up in the last couple of weeks and now costs $130.00 or more.
While on the subject of employees, Mr. McLean felt that one area that needs
to be looked into is that any job open in the City should be offered to the
people of the Community and not grouped into certain families.
Mr. Zelinka agreed and thought this is an are for the Personnel Commission
to take a look at and set standards. He felt that they will be starting on
this at the next meeting which is scheduled soon.
Mr.Marier made note of the fact that there are some preblems with personalities
among City employees. He suggested a special meeting with the employees in
order to clear thse problems. Anyone who felt that have a problem and need
help should make it known at that time.
After some discussion, March 5, 1975 at 8:00 P.M. was set for this meeting.
The Council will meet at 7:30 P.M. in order to get their ideas formulated.
The Clerk is to notify all departments of this meeting. Mr. Marier moved to set
the meeting at the time designated. Seconded by Mr. Zelinka. Motion carried.
Mr. Marier presented his report from the Planning and Zoning Board meeting held
on February 19, 1975. Mr. Tobish had taken his case on the trailer to Court
and the Judge had ruled that unless Mr. Tobish could obtain a special use permit
or license to park the trailer at that location, then the trailer must be removed
by April 15, 1975. Mr. Tobish had applied to the Planning and Zoning Board
for a special use permit and after discussion and consideration the Planning
and Zoning Board had recommended t the Council denial of ther permit. Mr.
Marier so moved. Seconded by Mr. McLean. Motion carried.
Mr. Jerry Blackbird, representating North - Northeast realty, had applied for a
Special User Permit to use a lot to be purchased for the storage of building
materials.
Mr. Jaworksi asked if this area would be fenced? Mr. Blackbird said, "with a
chain link fence." Mr. Marier reported the Planning and Zoning Board had
recommended that the Special Use Permit be on a one year basis and any complaint
of misuse of the property and the permit would be revoked. On that basis Mr.
Marier moved to approve the Special Use Permit. Seconded by Mr. McLean.
Motion carried.
9
