!FP
February 24, 1975 121
1
1
1
Mr. Ken Gourley had presented the idea of renaming Lino Park to "Mel Kline
Memorial Park." Mr. McLean passed this idea on to the Council for their
consideration.
In connection with this, Mr. L'Allier was here representating the Lion's Club.
He also requested the Council consider this request and spoke of the many
activities that Mr. Kline was involved in. He felt this was a fitting tribute
to a dedicated man.
Mr. Zelinka felt this was appropriate and moved to rename Lino Park to "Mel
Kline Memorial Park." Seconded by Mr. McLean.
Mayor Bohjanen felt this was something to be considered, but he also felt that
many other people must be contacted before the name of the Park could be changed.
This would include the people who gave the land, the PTA and many local residents
who worked to make the land a Park.
Mr. Marier asked that the motion be tabled until all sides of this questions and
all persons involved could be contacted. Mr. Zelinka agreed to withdraw his
motion and Mr. McLean withdrew his second. This subject will be researched.
Mr. Marier felt that if the Park is to be renamed, it should be with the approval
of all parties.
This will be considered at the March 24, 1975 meeting.
Mr. Jaworski asked if the house on Brich Street just East of Shadow Lake
Drive on the Lake Side of the street could not be inspected and something done
about securing the building. Mr. Jaworski also felt that the Fire Depts.
should contact the Electrical Companies for a list of all the electrical homes
in the community. Fires in these homes cannot be handled the same as
conventional heating fuels.
Mr. Jaworski also felt that the homes in the area should have house numbers
taht are visiable from the street. Also, some of the streets, particularly
County Road 'J' have a numbering system that does not relate to the numbering
system of the City.
There was some discussion on where the numbers should be placed and how large
they should be. This would need to be established by Ordinance and Mr.
Locher was asked to bring samples for the next Council meeting. Mr. Zelinka
so moved. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Motion carried.
Mr. Jaworski also reported that he had entered an empty house at 6980 Lakeview
Avenue that he felt should be reported to the Anoka County Health Dept. He felt
that the house at the present time is unliveable due to the fact that the people
had moved and left a cat in the house.
Mr. Zelinka had no other report.
Mayor Bohjanen reported on the meeting with Mr. Boland and felt that some
progress had been made. A new staff member,Mr. Gene Franchette, will be working
with Lino Lakes on the sewer problem. He wondered if this person should be invited
to the March 8, 1975 special meeting.
Mr. Jaworski had been unable to attend the meeting but he felt that the City
is getting the, run•around again. The subject of sewer will be delayed until the
Metropolitan Council has introduced their hoped for legislation.
