4
JULY 14, 1975
After discussion on why this resolution is necessary, Mr. Jaworski moved
to pass the following resolution: BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City
Council of the City of Lino Lakes that Mr. George Gotwald, Consultant
Engineer for the City of Lino Lakes, be directed to work with the Metro-
politan Waste Control Commission personnel and the Engineering Department
to solve the sewer problem in the City of Lino Lakes with a joint decision
to be presented to the Lino Lakes City Council within the next 60 days. All
Engineering cost to be borne by the Metropolitan Council.
The motion was seconded by Mr. McLean. and carri, edl unanimously.
The Clerk was instructed to type and get this Resolution in the mail
tomorrow, July 29, 1975.
There was more discussion on the general aspects of the meeting. Mr.
Tom Daniels said that the cost of the sewer project is to
be borne by the Metropolitan Council. Someone questioned the addition of
the last sentence. Mr. Jaworski said that the engineering cost are
simply added in as part of the overall project. Mr. Rehbein asked if
this line would include Centerville?
Mayor Bohjanen said Centerville was represented at the meeting. There
had been talk but no committment on that issue.
The residents of Shenandoah asked if the Council would meet with the
Metropolitan Council and the Council answered Yes. One resident asked
why the Lino Lakes - Centerville plan could not be presented to the
Metropolitan Council and was told this plan had been presented twice and
has not been approved to this date.
Mr. Locher was asked if the Metropolitan would vote on monies to be
allocated at this time. Mr. Locher said, No. they must have a report
and recommendation from the Engineer and the Metro Waste Control Commission
and then a decision will be made.
Mr. Jaworski had no report.
A resident from Shenandoah asked if the research into the minutes
covering the approval of the plat had been done. Mayor Bohjanen said
that it had and that copies had been turned over to Mr. Locher.
Mr. Locher said that he had not had time to study the reports. In the
meantime, he had checked the proposed contract from the contract from
the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission for payment for hauling sewage.
There is several minor clerical correction necessary. He reported that
the City had asked for a total of $26,000.00 per year, or up to that
amount and the Commission had written the contract with the total figure
of $19,000.00. Mr. Locher felt this and the fact that this contract only
covers hauling from the Country Lakes area are the two major points for
consideration.
Mr. Jaworski felt that if sewage is to be hauled from the Shenandoah
project, this should be a separate contract.
Mr. McLean asked why the ceiling of $19,000.00? Mr. Locher said
basically to limit development.
