In this same line, Mayor Bohjanen had received a copy of the
report sent to Mr. Boland. This report recommends the full flow gravity
system. The Clerk was instructed to make copies for all Council Members.
Chief Myhre presented some suggestions for incorporation into a new dog
ordinance. The Animal Control people feel that the eight ordinances
presently in force are inadequate and hard to enforce. It was suggested
that these ordinances be repealed and a new one written. It was also
suggested that instead of licenseing the dogs, that they be registered.
This would make the dogs easier to identify and would be more effective
since the animals would have to be registered once. Cheif Myhre was asked
if he could get a copy of such an ordinance and he said one community
has one and he will get a copy.
Chief Myhre also reported that when the animal control is on patrol, the
phone calls to the Police Department are reduced to practically nothing.
He recommended employing them for two hours per week on a permanent basis.
After some discussion, Mr. Jaworski moved to use the Animal Control for
two hours patrolling per week for a three month period. Seconded by Mr.
McLean. Motion carried.
Mayor Bohjanen had also received a letter noting the dates scheduled for
hearings on the sewer problem. A copy of this will be sent to all
Council Members.
Mayor Bohjanen had received a petition from residents of Birch Street
protesting the 55 MPH speed limit posted on that street.
After some discussion, with several other streets being named as having
the same problem, Mr. Jaworski moved to write to the Anoka County Highway
Department requesting that these speed signs be changed from the 55 MPH
to 45 MPH. The streets to be included in the request is Birch Street
from Highway 49 to 20th. Avenue and the service road on the east side of
1 35 E. The letter is to be sent to Mr. Paul Ruud with copies to the
County Commissioners. Seconded by Mr. McLean. Motion carried.
Mayor Bohjanen set budget hearings for consecutive Thursdays beginning
September 11th and going through the 25th.
Mr. Jaworski asked Mr. Volk for a report on the road work.
