October 24, 1977 <br />III..Mr. Locher had forwarded a copy of a pre- hearing statement written by Mr. Hoeft, Assist- <br />ant Staff Counsel for the Metropolitan Council. Copies of this had been made for all Council <br />members, Mr. Short and Mr. Gotwald. The hearing before the Public Examiner has been post - <br />phoned indefinitely. <br />..The Auditor had sent a notice of two parcel of property that have been forfeited to the <br />State of Minnesota - one is the outlot in the Rondeau Lake Addition bordering West Rondeau <br />Lake Road and the other is the lots on the Northwest corner of Sunrise Avenue and North Road. <br />The Council instructed the Clerk to contact the Auditor on this last parcel to be used <br />as a possible collector point for the transit system. Mr. Zelinka so moved. Seconded by <br />Mr. McLean. Motion carried unanimously. <br />..An application for reimbursement funds for the shade tree program had been received. The <br />Clerk will contact the Tree Inspector for assistance with the application. <br />..Information from Anoka County on the 911 Emergency Telephone service had been received <br />in the office. <br />..Mr. Donald C. Slater of Norfolk, Virginia, is the new Executive Director of the League <br />of Minnesota Cities. <br />..Mr. Ed Wiener of Ware Road had filod,an application for the storage of an unlicensed <br />car belonging to his daughter who is in the service. Mr. Zelinka moved to approve this <br />application. Seconded by Mr. Karth. Motion carried unanimously. <br />IIII..Municipal fines for the month of September were $540.00. <br />..The Clerk had received notification of a Intergovernmental Cooperation Program to be held <br />at the Ramada Inn, St. Paul, on November 17th and 18th. The total cost for attendance is <br />$10.00. This invitation was extended to the Clerk and the participants were nominated by <br />State Senators and State Representatives. The Council asked this be tabled until the <br />November 14, 1977 meeting. <br />Mr. Roy Stanley had applied for a variance for an extra long driveway on one of the lots <br />in Sunset Oaks. The area best for constructing a home is beyond the 300' limit. The Clerk <br />had attempted to contact members of the Planning and Zoning Board for their input, but <br />had been unable to contact them. Mr. McLean moved to approve this variance with the Clerk <br />to inform the Planning and Zoning Board of this action. Seconded by Mr. Zelinka. Motion <br />carried unanimously. Mr. Zelinka reminded Mr. Stanley that the maintenance and upkeep <br />of this driveway is the responsibility of the home owner. <br />Mayor Bohjanen had no report. <br />Mr. Karth presented an application from the State Highway Department for funding assistance <br />for bikeways. Mr. Gotwald felt this should be checked out. Mr.Zelinka felt the Park Board <br />should be made aware of this. Mayor Bohjanen felt this is a good idea but the liability <br />of the City should be checked with the Attorney. <br />Mr. Zelinka moved to submit this to Mr. Short with the suggested plan designed by the <br />Park Board members several years ago, ask that he put some suggestions on a map and submit <br />the application. Seconded by Mr. McLean. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Gotwald will <br />assist Mr. Short. <br />Mr. Karth reported that West Shadow Lake Drive is ready for blacktop and felt it should be <br />completed this week. 77th is dry and in good shape. <br />
