Mr. Schumacher suggested that if the Council felt <br />strongly enough about this request, some money could be taken <br />from Economic Development funds. Another suggestion was to work <br />with the local non - profit charitable gambling organizations. <br />Council Member Bohjanen explained that gambling operations have <br />become more of a "headache" than a profitable situation. He said <br />he would check to see if there was any money available through <br />the VFW. <br />Council Member Neal moved to deny the request for City funds to <br />support the Star of the North Games. Council Member Kuether <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />OLD BIISINESS <br />There was no Old Business. <br />NEW BIISINESS <br />Set Public Hearing for Off -Sale Liquor License for Douglas R. <br />Hughes for Tom Thumb Store for Monday, April 22, 1991, 7:00 P.M. <br />Mrs. Anderson explained that the public hearing is required by <br />the City Code. She also noted that this was the first possible <br />public hearing date. Mr. and Mrs. Hughes were in the audience <br />and explained that they have a problem because improvement must <br />be made to the building. Also a grand opening date has been set. <br />The public hearing date will delay the grand opening. Acting <br />Mayor Reinert said that the City Code must be followed and the <br />required publications must be made. The Council can not make any <br />commitments regarding issuing the license until after the public <br />hearing. Mr. Hughes said he would probably have to delay the <br />grand opening until June 1, 1991. <br />Council Member Bohjanen moved to set the public hearing. Council <br />Member Neal seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Request from Lino Lakes Lioness Club for City Council to <br />Designate August 17, 1991 as "Lino Days" - Mrs. Anderson <br />explained that the Lioness Club is planning a second annual "Lino <br />Days" celebration and asked that the City Council support them in <br />this effort. Council Member Bohjanen asked why the event was not <br />named "Lino Lakes Days ". Mrs. Schrader and Mrs. Graphenteen of <br />the Lioness Club explained that they felt Lino was a familiar <br />term. Council Member Kuether moved to designate August 17, 1991 <br />as "Lino Days ". Council Member Neal seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried unanimously. Council Member Neal reminded Mrs. Schrader <br />and Mrs. Graphenteen to apply for the beer license and use of the <br />park as soon as possible. <br />Set a Date for Team Building Follow -Up Session in April, <br />PAGE 10 <br />O5f <br />
