050
COUNCIL MEETING MARCH 25, 1991
supporting the Star of the North Summer Games because they feel
the event brings revenue into the area to help local businesses.
He noted that between 12,500 and 15,000 athletes are expected to
compete in the games and about 20,000 to 30,000 spectators are
expected to attend the games. It was noted that the cities are
encouraged to ask the locally licensed charitable gambling
organizations to contribute to the games in the name of the city.
Council Member Bohjanen asked Mr. Perovich to send contribution
information to the VFW.
Acting Mayor Reinert explained that the Council will act upon the
request for financial support at the end of this meeting.
CABLE COMMISSION UPDATE
Mr. Tesch explained that the Lino Lakes as well as nine (9) other
cities are in the seventh year of a fifteen year franchise with
Cable TV North Central. The franchise requires that Cable TV
North Central expend money for replacement of equipment used for
local programming. However, Cable TV North Central has filed a
law suit claiming that it should not be held to any promises or
projects made by its predecessor. Mr. Tesch said he would keep
the Council update on the progress of this law suit.
The Council was sent a list of areas to be considered for cable
line extension this season. Mr. Tesch noted that some of these
areas were proposed by the Council.
No action was required on this matter.
DESIGN REVIEW BOARD REPORT
Consideration of a Minor Subdivision and Variance for Lot 5,
Block 3, Rice lake Addition, DRB Application No. 91 - 03 and 91 -
05 - Mr. Miller explained that this request is similar to several
in the past. This area was platted prior to the current lot
width requirements with the idea that the lot would be subdivided
when sanitary sewer and water was available. A variance is
required because each new lot will be five (5) feet less that the
required width. The request was review by the DRB and they
recommended approval of the minor subdivision and the variance.
Council Member Bohjanen moved to approve the minor subdivision
request, DRB No. 91 - 03 contingent upon the payment of $800.00
for park dedication. Council Member Kuether seconded the motion.
Motion carried unanimously.
Council Member Kuether moved to approve the variance, DRB
Application No. 91 - 05. Council Member Neal seconded the
motion. Motion carried unanimously.
PAGE 3
1
1
