302
Council Member Neal asked about the trailer next to the Suchy
residence. It appears that some construction workers are living
in the trailer. Mayor Bisel asked that this matter be checked by
the staff and a report prepared.
VOTING ON THE MOTION:
Bisel
Neal
Abstained: none.
Bohjanen
Reinert
Motion carried unanimously.
Kuether
Oral Metropolitan Waste Control Update, Darrell Schneider - Mr.
Schneider explained that both the operations and the budget
committees of the Metropolitan Council have approved the money as
requested by this City for the installation of the gravity line
from the new school on Birch Street to the Shenandoah lift
station thereby eliminating this lift station. The Metropolitan
Council staff have been authorized to enter into an agreement
with Lino Lakes to pay for the extension. This agreement will be
presented at the August 12, 1991 Council meeting. Arcon
Construction has allowed the City until October 15, 1991 to
complete arrangements for this installation.
Mayor Bisel complemented Mr. Schneider for obtaining approval of
this improvement from Metropolitan Council. Mr. Schneider
explained that it was a team effort with several other staff
members participating. He noted that Mr. Boxrud had participated
to insure that Metropolitan Council understood the issue.
Highway 49 /Lake Drive Intersection Improvement Update, Dan Boxrud
- Mr. Boxrud displayed a drawing of the proposed revised
intersection. He noted that if completed, this intersection
would be of benefit to both Lino Lakes and Circle Pines. The
drawing indicates that there will be four (4) lanes of traffic
with turn lanes going both directions on Lake Drive; two (2)
lanes of traffic with turn lanes on Highway 49 and North Road
approaching Lake Drive. The City has approved the necessary
resolutions, the State of Minnesota and Anoka County have
allocated approximately $800,000.00 for this project. The City
of Lino Lakes will be responsible for approximately $200,000.00
of costs.
Site surveys have been completed. Preliminary drawings are being
prepared and will be sent to the state to advance the project.
The alignment of North Road has been changed slightly because a
nearby resident has constructed a garage very close to the right -
of -way. The state has approved the concept plan. Additional
right -of -way will be required from the Clingingsmith's. A
variance will have to be granted for the garage that was
PAGE 7
1
1
