2 <br />SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 6, 1992 <br />handled in the same manner as the Design Review <br />Board. It was the consensus of the Council that <br />this matter be referred to the work session of <br />the Council. <br />Charter Commission - Mayor Bisel suggested that the entire <br />Council plan to attend the Charter Commission <br />meeting scheduled for January 14, 1992 to let the <br />Commission know that City Council would like to <br />submit names to Judge Gibbs for the vacant <br />positions in conjunction with the Charter <br />Commission. <br />The City Clerk was asked to publish a notice requesting <br />applications for the vacant positions on the Design Review Board, <br />Park Board and Charter Commission in the next issue of the area <br />newspapers. <br />Centennial Fire District Steering Committee - Mayor Reinert <br />explained that presently two (2) elected <br />officials serve on the committee. From this time <br />forward, only one (1) elected official is <br />required and the second member can be a lay <br />person. Mayor Reinert asked Council Member Neal <br />to serve on the committee until after the special <br />municipal election. He suggested that possibly <br />the new council member can serve the remainder of <br />the term. <br />Circle Pines Gas Utility Commission - Mayor Reinert noted that Al <br />Ross would like to continue serving in this <br />position. Council Member Neal moved to nominate <br />Mr. Ross for the three (3) year term. Council <br />Member Elliott seconded the nomination. Mayor <br />Reinert asked that Public Works Director Don Volk <br />serve as staff support for this position. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Cable Commission - Mayor Reinert explained that this position is <br />filled at the pleasure of the Council. He asked <br />that Dan Tesch continue serving on this <br />commission. <br />Assessor - The City of Lino Lakes contracts with the Anoka County <br />Assessors office and Mr. Todd Smith has been <br />appointed by the County to be the City Assessor. <br />It was noted that the alternative to continuing <br />this process would be to hire an independent <br />assessor as the City has in the past.
