Leasing a telephone system was <br />discussed and Officer Keller explained that he had checked and <br />this did not appear to be a good option. <br />Officer Keller noted that relocating the Police Department means <br />that the telephone number will be changed from a St. Paul <br />exchange to a Minneapolis exchange number. He explained how <br />callers will be reaching the Police Department during the move <br />from city hall to the new facility. <br />Officer Keller recommended that the Police Department purchase a <br />telecommunication system offered by Telephone Specialists, <br />Minneapolis, Minnesota. There were no objections to this <br />recommendation. <br />RESCHEDULE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY MEETING <br />The meeting was scheduled for Thursday, January 30, 1992. at 5:00 <br />P.M. <br />REVIEW APPOINTMENTS FOR MUNICIPAL BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />The Council was given copies of letters from residents requesting <br />appointment to one (1) of several boards or commissions. A need <br />for more Park Board volunteers was noted. <br />WETLAND REGULATION SESSION <br />A seminar will be held on the matter on February 20, 1992. Mr. <br />Schumacher explained that Mr. Schneider will be attending and <br />asked if any of the Council Members were interested in attending. <br />Council Member Neal will attend. <br />APOLLO DRIVE IMPROVEMENT <br />Mr. Bob Toddie and Mr. Jim Studenski from TKDA were present to <br />assist Mr. Schneider in this presentation. Mr. Schneider <br />presented a drawing of his preference for the alignment of Apollo <br />Drive and indicated other possible alignments. He explained that <br />it is very important that the area bounded by Sunset Road on the <br />west, I35W on the south and a residential area on the north be <br />addressed. He explained that several years ago, industrial <br />development to the east of this area was discussed and the <br />residents were promised that no commercial traffic would enter <br />their area. However, the City is now planning a MSA street <br />(Apollo Drive) through this residential area and several issues <br />must be resolved. The cheapest street to construct through this <br />area would be 32 feet wide street with a number of driveways on <br />both sides of the street exiting onto the street.
