8
COUNCIL MEETING JUNE 12, 1995
style of policing.
Council Member Neal reminded the City Council of what happened
several years ago when the City of Centerville decided to
contract with the Circle -Lex Police Department. Mayor Reinert
felt that this was history.
Council Member Elliott said it would be a win /win situation and
there would be continued good coverage for all areas of Lino
Lakes and Centerville. She hoped that Centerville would
entertain a proposal from Lino Lakes and understand that the Lino
Lakes City Council is making the proposal for the benefit of
everyone.
Mayor Reinert said he would like to remind Mayor Wilharber of the
comment he made to Mayor Reinert on Earth Day. He hoped that
both cities would keep the door open for cooperation.
Mr. Powell noted the joint powers agreement between Centerville
and Lino Lakes for a joint street sweeping project. Mr. DeWolfe
has indicated that this project worked well and has not become an
administrative burden either. Mr. Schumacher said he talked to Mr. Winberg about
this project and both he and his Public Works Director said that
the joint project worked well.
Mr. Schumacher will keep the City Council updated on this matter.
OLD BUSINESS
Consideration of an Agreement with Anoka County for Recycling
(SCORE) Funds - A copy of the 1995 Agreement for Residential
Recycling was given to the Council Members in their packets. The
Agreement provides financial assistance to the City for expenses
incurred in 1995 for the coordination and promotion of recycling.
The Agreement allows for the reimbursement of $35,812.18. This
is the standard agreement that the City has entered into with
Anoka County in the past.
Council Member Elliott moved to approve the 1995 Agreement for
Residential Recycling with Anoka County. Council Member Bergeson
seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Consideration of Appointment of Jean Viger as Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator - Mr. Schumacher explained
that the passage of the ADA mandated that the City review its
policies and practices in order to determine if those policies
PAGE 14
1
1
