4
7/24/72
M4. LeTendxe stated that the specs had been received back from the State and
Were okay.- There was some discussion, with it being noted that the State would
inspect the facility before they could use it. Mr. Marier said that this would
be adding a 35'x30 structure to the existing building which is in use, and
that there will be a parking area in the rear for which Skyline is responsible
for the blacktop.
Mr. Marier moved we accept the plans for Skyline Auto Body's addition, as they
comply with the State's and P &Z's regulations. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal.
Carried.
Mr. Jaworski moved to adjourn the hearing at 8:42 P.M. Seconded by Mr. Marier.
Carried
Mr. Jaworski - questioned whether the previous agreement that Columbus would up-
grade the west end of Pine St. was effective since we had agreed to do the
maintenance on a 50 -50 basis. It was generally felt it was not as the newer
agreement was the whole road would be maintained, widened, filled and 2 cul-
verts put in, all on a 50 -50 basis. After discussion, the Clerk was directed
to send a letter to Columbus saying that we would like to get in touch about
the work to be done on the west end of Pine St. Mr. Jaworski plans to attend
their next meeting to get things going.
Mr. Jaworski felt, from Hugo's letter, that they are mixed up on the mainten-
ance of 24th Avenue. It was then proposed that we go on a 50 -50 basis on the
maintenance of the whole of 24th, with Lino Lakes doing the work, as several
residents on the East side of 24th had indicated that they like our service and
don't wantus to quit. A letter will be sent to Hugo indicating this proposal.
Mr. Jaworski suggested some personal contact with them.
Mr. Jaworski stated that we have a Chev pickup that is absolutely no good; the
doors are falling off and can't be put back on; he felt we should take off the
bed and tires and junk the rest. He proposed that we buy a 1963 Ford pickup
truck which he had brought to the Hall tonight, for the price of $700, this to
be used for hauling snowfence, Village equipment for flooding the rinks, trans-
porting the men from -park to park and hauling the tractor and pulling trailers.
Mr. Marier asked how many vehicles we have now. Mr. Jaworski said that we have
3 dump trucks and 2 pickup trucks. Mr. Marier noted that we had tried to sell
one and then decided we could use it; we should have taken the $400 we were
offered. Mr. Jaworski stated that the truck in the garage has a bad cylinder
and won't go through the winter; the 1939 tanker is in deplorable condition
with a bad front`:end and no brakes. Mr. Marier felt a short block could be
put in the dump truck and the tanker could be fixed.
Mr. Jaworski said he would come up with the cost figures for the next meeting
on repair of the vehicles. Mr. Marier felt we shold try to convert the truck
we didn't sell before spending $700 on another one. Mr. Jaworski moved to buy
the1963 pickup truck for &700 from Grand Avenue Rord. Mr. Cardinal said he
would second this if we can dump a couple of the other trucks.
There was more discussion in which Mr. Marier noted that it was not economical
to have 2 drivers for 5 trucks. Mr. Jaworski noted that the Hwy Dept. uses
a dump truck to haul snowfence with three men on it. We have until the next
meeting to take the Chev. Mr. Locher commented that we have to get 2 or more
quotations since the amount is over $500. Vote on the motion. Aye - Jaworski
and Cardinal; No Marier and Bohjanen. Failed. Mr. Jaworski will get another
bid and cost information on the other trucks.
