18
8/14/72
Mr. Jaworski reported that he had figures for the repair of two of the trucks.
Mr. Marier asked if we are on schedule on the roads; Mr. Jaworski said Yes, but
not as far as making any new roads. We have some hanging in the air such as
Peltier, Pine and sunrise.
Mr. Jaworski had the estimate for the work on Pine st. as prepared by Ivan and
Roy: the total cost was $3,371 for backhow, turnapul., gravel and culverts.
Members felt too many culverts were listed and that some must be for private drive -
ways. It was noted that it is not Village policy to pay for private culverts
although Columbus does. Mr. Gotwald stated that the Village could not put in
the culverts because there was drainage problem and then charge the residents.
Mr. Jawaeki said he would check with Columbus on this and get an agreement
that they will go half of the total cost of the work. Mr. Cardinal asked if we
flare the ends of the culverts; Mr. Jaworski said No, Mr. Marier said it does'nt
pay to put them unless we flare them.
The hearing set for considering building plans for Northwest Saddle Club was
called to order at 9:06 P.M. Mr. Bohjanen stated that we had received a call from
Mr. Heimer stating that they had removed the trailer, and that the members were
equally divided on what to build so nothing will be done at this time. The police
had checked the property and found the trailer was gone. Mr. Cardinal felt they
were in compliance, and asked if the police can get into the property, Gerald
Johnsen said Yes, that the gates were open and they check place 3 or 4 times a
night. Mr. Cardinal moved to close the hearing at 9:08 P. M. ,Seconded by Mr.
Marier. Carried.
Mr. Jaworski stated that he, had figures from the book from Grand Avenue Ford on
reparing the 1960 and 1962. Ford Dump, trucks on items from Roy and the mechanics
which are necessary to put the trucks in proper running condition. He read the
lists of items; the totals were ct1,543.85 for the. 1962 truck and c1,086.13 for ,
the 1960 truck sitting out in back. He did not have figures yet on the tanker
or the pickup in the park. Mr. Marier asked if Cliff had pulled the wheels;
Mr. Jawoaki didn't know.
Mr. Marier stated that we had a bid on the 1960 Ford at which time it was said
that it was in good shape and only needed body work in the amount of 'k250. He
asked fir. Jaworski if he was saying that we will completely revamp the trucks.
Mt. Jaworski said just about, since if we are going to put money in them we
should.do everything now rather than be nickel -and dieted to death on future small
repairs. There was discussion. Mr. Marier, asked if the shop foreman at Grand Ave.
Ford had given the bid; Mr. Jaowrski said No, that Cliff did using the book prices.
Mr. Jaworski asked the Clerk to go back two years before we quit using the
1960 Ford and determine the cost of maintenance in that time.
Mr. Marier asked Mr. Locher if we have certification of the sign ordinance. Mr.
Locher stated that he had left calls several times for Mr. Wasik since the last
meeting, but he just is not there, nor have we received the requirements in writing
that were promised.
Mr. 7elinka reported that the Personnel Commission had met and gone over the
recommendations that Roy made; they are re- working the job description for the
Road Supervisor. some Minor things need clarification. He expected it to be
done by the next Council meeting for our evaluation.
Mr. 7elinka had nothing on the Enviromental Commission except for Mr. Hawkins'
letter which was read. Clerk had sent a copy to Mr. McLean.
1
1
