8/14/72
1
Mr. Gotwald reported on NSP's request for Village signatures on the service to the
well and the lift station (Lakes Add'n No. 2), noting that they were being paid $350
by Batzli Electric Company for service during construction. The line is within 5' of the
property line. He recommended that we sign the forms. There was discussion on
markings for the buried lines; Mr. Gotwald said he could call to make sure markings
would be put there even though they don't last.
Mr. Cardinal moved that the NSP request be signed as it complies with the Engineer's
recommendations, and that we try to get markings on there. Seconded by Mr. Marier.
Carried.
Mr. Locher reported receiving the Village auto insurance policy, noting that
the 1960 truck has comprehensive insurance. He felt the Council might wish to
look over the values on the policy, and mentioned that the cost of insurance on
the police cars is more than on the other vehicles.
Mr. Locher reported receipt of the insurance policy on the Lion's Clubs, noting
they have no liquor liability, it doesn't cover vehicles, but is a good solidy policy.
Mr. Locher reported receipt of a letter stating that the $5000 liquor bond on Stanley
Thayer will terminate Sept. 1st, and recommended looking for a new bond or
suspending the license as of that date.
Mr. Locher reported that all 110 coupons were received for the May 1st payment on
interest on the Municipal Building Bonds.
Mr. Locher mentioned a hearing before the Metro Council on Sept. 14th on their
new proposed budget, which he felt it would be wise for the members to attend. We
can meet ahead with Mr. Dougherty if we have questions on the new program of
financing which involves a Metro charge for each sewer hookup. This would to ke
the pressure off the individual communities. Mr. Dougherty thinks 75-80% federal
funding is available; all construction costs would fall back on the entire
7- county area.
Mr. Locher felt we should make provisions soon on the question of hauling the
sewage since the Jandric people desire to quit hauling as soon as possible.
They also feel they should be reimbursed for what hauling they have done to date- -
but they are not pushing too hard on this. Members felt that it had been agreed
that Jandric would be responsible for the hauling until the Village takes over the
system, and that no reimbursement was due.
Mr. Bohjanen said that the deductible insurance on the trucks was running into a
lot of money and he felt it should be dropped on the 1960 Ford truck which has
not been driven for more than a year. Mr. Zelinka moved to drop the $100
deductible collision and the liability insurance, but to keep the comprehensive
cover on the truck we have not been using. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried.
Mr. Bohjanen reported that he had re- negotiated the mileage cost on towing the
police cars with Bill Flanagan, and that the charge would be 35 per mile above the
$10 daytime and the $15 nightime towing charge. This was the lowest he could go
on driving the wrecker. Mr. Zelinka moved we accept this bid from Bill's Auto Repair.
Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried.
Mr. Bohjanen reminded the Council of the special meeting on Sept. 14th for the
hearing on the Jandric assessments.
Mr. Bohjanen asked that the matter of flood insurance be placed on the next agenda,
noting that he would like Mr. Locher to see what such action would encompass.
