40
9/25/72
Mr. Marier felt that we can only present our plan to Mr. Burman and that it is his
responsibility to sell the idea to the County Park Board.
Glenn Rehbein asked about a piece of land along the freeway - why was it not
included? Mr. Marier answered that the Highway Department has some plans as to
a possible interchange at that point. Glenn asked about the and sough of Rice
Lake being included in the Park Proposal - he said that they had bought the land
and didn't want to see it included in a Park Plan. Mr. Marier felt that this
was an area where work could be done on the present plan.
Mr. Boyd asked Mr. Marier if his counter proposal would be ready for the October
2nd meeting. Mr. Marier said Yes.
Mr. Cardinal had tried to contact Mr. Hamblin of the St. Paul Water Department but
he had been out of town. He had talked to a Mr. Muhlson about the Baldwin Lake
Park area. The water department would like some sort of a proposal from the
Park Board before a meeting is set up. Mr. Cardinal felt that some sprt pf a
sje;ter = i}oss i b I y just a roof would be a l l that would be necessary for the present.
Also, there had been very little response to the letters sent to all Park Board
members. Mr. Carlson has a conflict and could not make the meetings therefore
had resigned. Mr. Johnson has had surgery and will be unable to attend for a while.
Mr. Kent felt he could make the meetings starting in October. Mr. Harold Lehman
has agreed to serve on the Park Board. There was request for gravel for one of
the Hockey Rinks but needs a requisition. Mr. Backlin will take care of it.
Mr. Jaworski reported that work had begun on Pine Street but because of the
adverse weather it is not yet f i n i s h e d . Work w i l l start on Peltier Lake Drive
tomorrow. We have obtained three men from the County to aid the Anoka Electric
Company in removing the trees. As soon as these trees are out of the way then
the road work can begin. There is work to be done on 64th Street, both east
and west, a seal coat on Aqua Lane and the Park Road. Also the work on Holly
Drive. Mr. Jaworski felt that with good weather the road work should be completed
by the end of October. There had been some gravel hauled in on Orange Street and
some grading has been done on that Street.
Mr. Marier asked if Ware raod had been rolled yet. Mr. Jaworski said No, the
weather hasn't been warm enough for it, but that we will not pay the bill until
the work has been done.
Mr. Jaworski said the Mr. Backlin would not be able to supervise the work on
Peltier Lake Drive tomorrow but he had asked Ivan Proulx to be there. Also, we have
not received the mower blades that were ordered. Mr. Backlin is to check on them.
Mr. Locher reported that Holly Drive seemed to be entirely on the property to the
South. Mr. Cardinal asked if Mr. Gotwald had contacted the property owner to the
North. Mr. Jaworski agreed that Holly Drive is entirely South of the Section Line.
That is where the easement is recorded. Mr. Locher said he did not know the
dimensions but would contact Mr. Gotwald on this.
Mr. Jaworski asked if we had not passed a resolution some time last year asking that
street lights be installed in certain areas. He felt that two had not been
installed - one at 4th Avenue and Main Street and one at 4th Avenue and Lilac. The
Clerk was instructed to check on the request. If these locations had been included
in the original resolution, then a letter should be written requesting that they
be installed.
Mr. Bohjanen had a call saying that there is no street sign at Sunset and Main
Streets. Mr. Jaworski will have Mr. Backlin check on this. Mr. Zelinka noted that
on a drive through the Vi -lage he had noted missing signs, some were pretty rusty
and hard to read, some were bent. He felt that we should do something about this.
