1
1
1
9/25/72
Mr. Jaworski said that our signs have to be checked and up dated and some need to
be replaced.
There had been no report on Lois Lane but he wi I I have the grader go through the
street. Mr. LeVesseur had felt that the line stake survey done by Mr. Gotwald was
too close to his buildings. Mr. Locher s -id there was no problem - his building
was erected before we had an ordinance covering set backs on commercial
property.
Mr. Marier reported on the application for a variance to Ord. #56 by U. S. Lakes
Development Company. This was a very conterversial item. Mr. Busch presented
the U. S. Lakes proposal. The residents of that area were about 90% in attendance
and had a lot of input. Mr. Marier felt that there could be legal action taken in
some areas of this variance. The Planning and Zoning Board had listened to both
sides and asked for updated maps. Also, that copies be sent to the Planner and
Engineer. The Planning and Zoning Board then scheduled a meeting for Oct. 11, 1972,
at 8:00 P. M. with both the Planning and Zoning Board and the Village Council. We
are to send notices of the meeting to the people of the area. We have the names
and address of those in attendance. Formerly the notices had been sent to the
mortage carriers and the people never received notice of the meetings. Mr. Marier
moved that the Council and & the P &Z Board hold a joint meeting on October II, 1972
at 8:00 P.M.. Mr. Zelinka seconded. Motion carried.
The special assessment hearing will have to be held as scheduled on October 10th
since the publication has already been doon but since the hearing on the variance
application will effect the assessments in that area it will have to be continued
until a later date.
Mr. Jaworski felt that it would not be necessary for us to have the assessment
certified by October IOth since the State must finalize the monies from the,
Fiscal Disparity Act. The Act has not yet been passed so we must wait for the
amount that the Village will receive.
Mr. Marier also reported that Mr. Karth had asked about a building permit for the
Benz Body Shop at 77th and Old Highway 8. If they have no building permit then
they are in Violation of our Village code. The Clerk was asked to check. Also
there is a new Pepsi Cola sign on Co. Rd. 14 near the Washington County line.
They have no sign permit. The Police was asked to check on this sign or the
Building Inspector to check it out.
Mr. Locher reported there is still no Certification of our sign ordinance.
Mr. Zelinka reported that the Enviormental Commission's meeting of last week was
cancelled since Mr. Hawkins was out of town. There have been no meetings of the
Personnel Commission. They are still working on the job application forms.
Mr. Marier moved that we run a classified ad in the St. Paul and Minneapolis papers
for the position of Clerk /Treasurer. The ad to run from the 30th of September
through the 8th of October. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Carried.
Mrs. Swanson asked if the ad was placed in the League Magazine and was told No.
Mr. Bohjanen said we could inquire as to the next publication date. Mr. Marier
moved that we inquire as the publication date of the League Magazine. Mr. Cardinal
seconded. Carried. The Clerk should ask as to the cost of advertising in their
magazine.
Mr. English was here to represent Mr. Wright to discuss Flood Insurance. He had
some slides to show and asked if we had a screen. While he was setting up his
equipment, Mr. Boyd presented his report.
