196
Sept. 10, 1973
also discussion on who would haul the sewage. Mr. Rehbein said he
would either haul the sewage himself or pay the Village to do the
hauling.
Mr. Bohjanen asked Mr. Gotwald, if these main and lateral plans are
passed, wouldn't this help to insure the instal lation of the interceptor?
Mr. Gotwa I dsa i d this I s one of the requirements of the MSB. He felt
that if these plans are approved, then this would indicate that the
interceptor is being engineered. The MSB has no desire to engage in
the hauling of sewage for more and more homes for an indefinite period
of time.
There was some discussion on the scheduling of public hearings. Mr.
Gotwald said to take this one step at a time and the first thing to do
is to submit these plans for approval.
Mr. Zelinka moved to submit Mr. Rehbein's sewer plans to the PCA and
MSB and the land use map to the Metro Council explaining that this is
a preliminary map on which the Council will take action. Seconded by
Mr. Cardinal. Motion carried.
Mr. Zelinka felt there should be a letter of intent from Mr. Rehbein
stating that he would assume the extra cost incurred by the Village for
hauling the sewage from his project. Mr. Locher drafted a; letter
stating the terms under which the Village would assume the responsibility
for the sewage. The Clerk will type and send a copy to Mr. Rehbein.
There was a question as to when Lino Lakes and Centerville will hold
public hearings on the extension of mains and laterals. Mr. Gotwald
said these hearings should not be scheduled until we are certain that
the interceptor is being installed.
Mr. Bohjanen read a letter from Mr. Mattke of the Centennial School
Distric requesting a count of building permits for single family homes
from the year 1969 through 1973. He wondered if Mr. Mattka wanted the
total count or just the permits for homes located within School District
#12. The Clerk is to call Mr. Mattke.
Mr. Bohjanen has received a letter on banning smoking in public build-
ings and after the Clerk had read the letter, asked the Council their
feelings on banning smoking in the Council Chambers. Mr. Cardinal
moved to ban smoking in the Council Chambers for all time. Seconded
by Mr. Bohjanen. The vote ended in a tie thus the motion failed.
He had also received a letter on the Flood Plane Insurance. He asked
that Mr. Locher study this and report back to the Council at their next
meeting.
Mr.Bruce Lindberg of 7172 Lakeview had compalined that a Vi Ilage
sign was blocking entrance to his mailbox. The mailbox or the sign
will have to be moved. Mr. Backlin suggested moving the sign since
the present one should be replaced. He had also complained that the
road has been plowed out by his mailbox so that it was not at the pro-
per height. This is his responsibility.
