January 14, 1974 <br />this would be rewritten to encompass Parks and Recreation. Mayor Bohjanen would <br />recommend the following persons to serve on this Commission; Mr. Frank Resch - 2 <br />years; Mr. Jim McGeary - 2 years; Mr. Donald Kent - 1 year; Mr. Jerry Clausen - 2 <br />years; Mrs. Sylvia Brission -1 year; Mrs. Geraldine LeTourneau - 3 years; Mrs. <br />Betty Kendall - 3 years; Mr. Zelinka moved to approve these appointments. Seconded <br />by Mr. Jaworski. Motion carried unanimously. <br />The Park Board can be abolished by Resolution. Mr. Zelinka moved to instruct the <br />Attorney to write an Ordinance to modify the existing Enviornmental Ordinance to <br />combine the Enviornmental, Parks and Recreation aspects of the City. Seconded by <br />Mr. McLean. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Since the Open Space Commission is a temporary Commission, Mayor Bohjanen recommend- <br />ed that the personnel of that Commission remain as is until the disputed areas with <br />the County are cleared. Mr. Zelinka so moved. Seconded by Mr. McLean. Motion <br />carried unanimously. This Commission,consists of the following person; Mr. McLean, <br />Mr. Marier, Mr. Zelinka, Mr. Clausen and Mr. Lehman. <br />Mayor Bohjanen designated Mr. Zelinka as Acting Mayor. Mr. Marier so moved. Seconded <br />by Mr. McLean. Motion carried unanimously. Mayor Bohjanen asked that Mr. Zelinka <br />remain as liaison to the Personnel Commission. Mr. Jaworski so moved. Seconded by <br />Mr. McLean. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Zelinka will also serve as liaison to <br />the Utility Commission - Circle Pines and North Central. Mayor Bohjanen also <br />requested Mr. Zelinka to serve as alternate to the Metro Sewer Board and the North <br />Suburban Sewer Service Board. <br />Mayor Bohjanen requested Mr. Jaworski to serve as liaison to the Park, Recreation <br />and Enviornmental Commission. Mr. Jaworski said he would prefer to stay with the <br />Road Department. Mr. Marier felt that his wishes should be respected and he moved <br />to have Mr. Jaworski remain with the Road Department. Seconded by Mr. McLean. <br />Motion carried. Mr. Jaworski will also remain as representative to the Metro <br />Transit System. <br />Mr. Zelinka felt that the Councilmen who had a preference as to the Department <br />they served as liaison to should be allowed to remain with that Department. There <br />are the two areas remaining - Parks, Recreation and Enviornmental and Planning and <br />Zoning. <br />Mr. Marier said that he had a good working relationship with the Planning and <br />Zoning Board and he would prefer to remain in that position. Mr. Zelinka so moved. <br />Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Motion carried. Mr. Marier will also serve as Represent- <br />ative to NSSSB. <br />There was discussion as to what the Public Utilities consisted of and it was the <br />general feeling of the Council that it should be divided as to Parks and all other. <br />Mr. Zelinka moved that Mr. McLean serve as liaison the the Park, Recreation and <br />Enviornmental Commission. Seconded by Mr. Marier. Motion carried. Mr. McLean <br />will also serve as representative to the Anoka County Park Board and the Metro <br />Counci 1. <br />Mayor Bohjanen will serve as liaison to the Police Department, Civil Defense, Fire <br />Departments. General Office and as Representative to the Metro Sewer Board. Mayor <br />Bohjanen felt that a close watch on proceedings of the MSB and NSSB is necessary. <br />He will make every effort to attend all meetings. He also felt that the Open Space <br />Program should be resolved as soon as possible. <br />
