64
March 25, 1974
Mr. Marier asked if there had been any correspondence from the Anoka County
Commissioners relating to the Open Space. The Clerk said she had received none.
Mr. Bohjanen said that the material had been delivered to Attorney Locher office
and he will bring it with him. Mr. Marier asked that this discussion be tabled
until Mr. Locher arrived.
Mr. Jaworski presented specs for a truck. Each Council member has a copy. The
various points were discussed, especially the two way plow and the need for a
second sander.
Mr. McLean asked how this compares with the 1971 truck we now have.
Mr. Jaworski said that the truck was bought from a lot and was bought without
equipment, - only the chassis.
Mr. Zelinka asked about the cost of a sander. Mr. Jaworski said we paid about
$1300.00 for the one on the truck at the present time.
Mr. Marier was concerned about maintenance problems with the two way plow. He
questioned the necessity of this kind of equipment. He felt that some checking
should be done as to the safety, operation and maintenance on this kind of plow.
Mr. Jaworski said Mr. Backlin is doing some checking. This is the sort of snow
plow blade used by the State Highway Department.
Mr. Zelinka felt that if the cost is prohibitive, he would question the need for
such equipment. He felt that a second sander was needed more.
Mr. Marier questioned the advantage of an automatic transmission over a standard.
He felt that there was more maneuverability with a standard transmission.
Mr. Jaworski said that no two people drive the same and with an automatic
transmission it is less likely to have major repairs on the clutch or trans-
mission.
Mr. Marier asked if he had a quoted price on the old truck for a trake in? Mr.
Jaworski said, No, no quoted prices as yet. He will take these specs and get cost
estimates for the next meeting.
Mr. Zelinka moved to table consideration of the truck until April 8, 1974 when
Mr. Jaworski will have cost estimates with and without the sander and double arm
plow. Seconded by Mr. McLean. Motion carried, with Mr. Marier voting, No.
Mr. Marier asked Mr. Jaworski the source of the specs and Mr. Jaworski said from
the County.
Mr. Jaworski asked that the Building specs be tabled until the April 8, 1974
meeting.
Mr. McLean reported on the Park Board meeting. He had hoped to present the Council
with bids for the fence to be installed at Lino Park but he has only one bid at
this time. This will have to be tabled until the bids are in. The Park Board
did pass a motion recommending that the lowest bid be accepted by the Council and
the fence be installed as soon as possible, under the guidance of Mr. Gotwald.
1
1
