March 25, 1974
Mr. Zelinka asked if the bid for the fence will fit into the Budget and Mr.
McLean said that it would.
Mr. McLean requested, per instructions from the Park Board, the attendence of
Mr. Starr at the next meeting. The Council gave approval of this request.
The Boy Scouts, as one of their Community projects, will paint the bleechers at
the ball diamonds here at the Hall. He had put in a requisition for paint and
was sure that the amount on the requisition would more than river the cost of the
paint.
Mr. Zelinka asked if the Clerk had had any response to the letters sent to
applicants for the Supervisors position. She said that she had, there are six
or seven applications on file in her office.
The only contact with the Circle Pines Utility Commission was the year end report
that all members have a copy of. He felt that he wasn't familar enough with the
operation to thoroughly understand the report as yet. The Attorney and legal fees
are in question. Where they are charged will depend on the Courts.
Mr. Bohjanen cleared up the question on the use of the Hall by the Boy Scouts -
this was a special meeting and will not be a steady practice.
Mr. Bohjanen asked the Council to designate the month of April as Clean -Up Month
in the City. Mr. Marier so moved. Seconded by Mr. McLean. Motion carried.
Mr. Bohjanen said the Boy Scouts will work three Saturdays cleaning up the road
sides. The Police are working on junk cars and clean up tickets.
Mr. Bohjanen thanked all Personnel - Chief Myhre, C.D. Director Cape, the C.D.
Auxilliary and all members of these orginazations. They worked countless hours
assisting in any capacity they could. For a City that does not have full - Time
personnel, a tremendous job was done by all.
Chief Myhre reported that about 181 man hours was used in the road block from
the 16th through the 20th. All things that he asked for was there when he needed
them. He thanked all the people who worked and for the cooperation of all that
was involved. He also commended the population of the City for not tying up
traffic sight seeing. He said that there was very little sight seers and he and
the FBI and County appreciated this. The Water Patrol also assisted in the
road block and it could not have been handled with the cooperation from all
these groups. He thanked all who assisted in any way.
Mr. Cape gave a report on the activities of the Civil Defense. They kept the
men supplied with hot coffee, rolls, food and assisted in manning the cars at
the road blocks. He was proud of the way they responded and thanked them all for
their many hours of work.
He then reported Governers Disaster Conference that he and Mr. Bohjanen had
attended this past week. There is to be a communications system set up for the
Civil Defense use. This has been needed for a long time. Mr. Joe Strube, Twin
City Meterorologist was a speaker. He warned that with a mild winter and little
snow usually brings a Spring with violent storms.
Under old Business, Mr. Jaworski raised the question of salary raises approved at
the last Council meeting. He felt that certain salaries were raised in conflict with
the Personnel Commission's recommendations.
