2
April 22, 1974
Mr. Jaworski brought up the subject of sewers. He wondered if the Collection of
the S.A.C. with each building permit issued was legal in view of the fact that the
installation of the interceptor is in such doubt.
Mr. Marier felt that it was smarter to pay this charge now at a lower rate then to
withhold and pay a higher charge at a later date. He felt it was most important to
know what there plans are. The meeting at Fridley on April 30, 1974 is a very
important meeting and all members of the Council should plan to attend. There was
some question of the property owners from Shenandoah attending this meeting also.
Mr. Marier said that this is an open meeting and all can attend. There was also
some discussion of -the possibility of -a meeting with representatives of the MSB
and the Metro Council to be held soon.
There was much- discussion- centered around the interceptor and the meetings that
are contemplated. Mr. Zelinka suggested a meeting a few days after the meeting
on the 30th.
Mr. Marier felt that we should have a representative from the NSSSB, the MSB and
the liaison to the Metro Council at this meeting.
Mr. Jaworski suggested May 2, 1974 at 8:00 p.m. for this meeting.
Mr. Rehbein asked what can be done in Shenandoah if the interceptor is turned down
by the Metro Council. His mains and laterals are approved by the PCA. The whole
set -up in the area is temporary, this project was designed for sewers and not
septic systems.
Mr. Zelinka said that legally the City cannot give him permission to do this. Mr.
Zelinka suggested some well written letters from the residence of the area address-
ed to the Metro Sewer Board and the Metro Council. If these letters are written
firmly but nicely, 'they could get results. This is one means of letting the Metro
Sewer Board and the Metro Council know of the needs of the people in the area.
Mr. Jaworski reminded the Council that technically, the City is not hauling the
sewage. That truck is a Metro Sewer operation and the City is contracted by the
Sewer Board to do the hauling.
Mr. Marier reminded Mr. Rehbein that when the project was started there was no
guaranty that as to the date for installation of the interceptor.
Mr. Rehbein asked if anything had been done with the list of names that had been -
presented at the last Council meeting. The Clerk said, No, the list is in her desk.
Mr. Marier suggested that a letter be written and the list of names enclosed
indicating these people requested that the interceptor be installed as originally
planned and as soon as possible.
The Councilmen agreed.
Mr. McLean reported on the Park Board Meeting. He gave the following recommendations
for the Sunrise Park; 1) at leat two toilet facilities (satellite or similar
facility) 2) water facilities 3) repair roads and install more posts to control
parking. 4) repair all ball diamonds. 5) swings and playground equipment checked
and repaired. 6) trash cans in all high use areas.
1
1
1
