1
1
5/10/71
Mr. Bohjanen thought this code should handle things for some time and was assured that
any revisions would be published separately as amendments. Mr. Locher noted that we
must publishe a hearing notice two weeks in advance of the hearing. He also suggested
having Mr. Van Housen's office do the typing corrections since it would be cheaper,
but it was felt that it was unnecessary to have these preliminary drafts matched
perfectly since new ones will be printed; the Clerk will make the changes. Mr.
Gotwald suggested that the chart could be sent downtown to have the type reduced in
size.
Mr. Jaworski moved to have the public hearing on the zoning classification code held
before the P&Z on June 16th and before the Council on June 28th. Seconded by Mr.
Cardinal. Carried unanimously.
Mr. Jaworski stated that the report on municipal license fees was not yet ready.
The insurance bids were discussed. The bid from Paul J. Breher Company had been
revised in accordance with the Council's wishes on coverage to a premium of $3,627.00.
The total of the policy amounts as bid by James M. Ray amounted to $3,106.41. Mr.
Bohjanen moved to accept Mr. James M. Ray as the low bidder at a cost of $3,106.41
for the Village insurance for one year, providing that we receive a written state-
ment that the bid price is an annual premium. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Carried
unanimously.
Two bids on workman's comprehensive insurance were received. Mr. Paul Breher had
bid $739.97 from Western National Mutual Insurance Co.; Mr. Bob Johnson of LeMieux-
Johnson, now carrying our present policy, stated that his price would remain the same,
which is $872.00. After discussion, Mr. Bohjanen moved to send a letter to Mr. Bob
Johnson asking him to reduce the policy premium by eliminating the premium for
volunteer firemen since we have none; also, to send a letter to Mr. Breher asking
for a bid without the firemen coverage. Seconded by Mr. L'Allier. Carried unani-
mously.
The Clerk reported that she had contacted the Bureau of the Census and had obtained
a copy of a portion of the Minnesota census report which listed Lino Lakes as having
a population of 3,692. Mr. L'Allier noted that this was a 58.5% increase since 1960
and read some of the figures for neighboring communities. He mentioned that Forest
Lake had passed a resolution opposing the Park Reserve bill and that he appreciated
their efforts. There was further discussion on the community profile. The Clerk
was instructed to put Molin Concrete on the front page and to obtain figures from
the Youth Center and Chamonix in order to fill in the blanks completely on the front
page. Copies of the revision will be sent out for the next meeting.
Mr. L'Allier stated that the County ordinance on garbage had been discussed at the
special meeting on Friday evening and that the Council had no specific objection to
the ordinance if there can be contribution by the local governments. Mr. Bohjanen
suggested that when ire adopt such local regulations that we have the garbage haulers
in for a meeting to discuss rates, etc.
The two car storage applications held over from the last meeting were discussed as
were two more applications from Mr. Vincent Knopic on Birch St. Mr. Myhre had
provided pictures of the vehicles. Mr. L'Allier stated that he didn't consider
these vehicles to be antiques. Following discussion on these and other vehicles, Mr.
Jaworski moved to deny all four application and that a letter be sent to the
applicants advising same and instructing them to get licenses for the vehicles in
compliance with the ordinance. Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. Carried unanimously.
