6/2$/71 <br />thought this was the year to do the Lakeview area; after discussion it was <br />decided that the Clerk would check to see when the work was last done. <br />Mr, Rosengren reported that he had received a letter from Commissioner Burman <br />who would like a list of the roads we would like to upgrade. Mr. L'Allier moved <br />to have Mr. Gotwald and Mr. Rosengren make a recommendation to the Council on <br />the roads to be upgraded, for forwarding to the County; Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. <br />Carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Rosengren reported that a letter from her Attorney to Mrs. Wilhelmy was <br />received advising that he had hired James Kurth to survey her property; this would <br />be done in four to eight weeks; we will just have to wait. <br />Mr, Cardinal noted that he had seen Mr. Arnold Thies who will give us broken <br />cement from two buildings for rip -rap on Peltier Drive..' Mr. L'Allier asked Mr. <br />Rosengren to look at the material. <br />Jr . Rosengren stated that he had been questioned about Holly Drive from 12th Avenue <br />East to Centerville Road; it is full of holes and impassable. He wished to know if <br />it is or is not a Village Road. Mr. Locher stated that he had checked all the records <br />and found nothing on record. Mr. Rosengren noted that the school buses used to go <br />through there. Mr. Cardinal stated that this was because one particular driver had <br />liked to please the kids by driving over the bumps, but she had been suspended be- <br />cause of it. Mr. Rosengren noted that he therefore was not authorized to spend money <br />on the road. Mr. Cardinal stated that everyone along the road has access out, but in <br />nice weather they use the road for a shortcut. <br />Mr. Bohjanen reported that he had had no meetings since the pageant on the 19th. <br />There had been a good crowd; he was gratified that three organizations had <br />cooperated so well to make the occasion a success. They plan to try again, to <br />make the Queen Pageant an annual thing. <br />Mr. Bohjanen stated that he had gotten calls from a Mr. Johnson concerning a <br />building permit which had been granted for a lot at the corner of Glenview and <br />Sunrise. Mr. Locher explained that this permit was for Bernard Nass, and that Mr. <br />Nass had gone to court to remove the covenants on the lots which had been uplit in <br />1951. Mr. L'Allier noted that his had set no precedent. Mr« Locher noted that <br />perhaps all the property owners may like to split their lots in the future; also, <br />the covenants are up Jan. 1, 1975. Mr, Nass had been given Council permission before <br />getting the building permit. <br />Mr. Rosengren stated that there is a house on the corner of Sunset and North Road <br />owned by Dale Gourley, which Mr. Gourley plans to remove. Mr. Rosengren felt that the <br />Village could use this small building for a storage shed; it needs a new floor. He <br />felt that our men could move it. Mr. L'Allier asked all members to drive by and <br />view the house. <br />Mr. L'Allier read the police report for May, as follows: 3,664.4 miles driven; <br />235 home and business checks; 27 complaints; 10 escapees; 1 escapee returned; <br />S 1/2 hours spent with escapees; 9 legal papers served; 7 accidents; 7 assists <br />to/by other departments; 4 aid given to motorists; 4 domestics; 3 burglar alarms <br />(false); 2 acts of larceny committed; 1 fire; 1 stolen auto recovered; 1 missing . <br />person (returned); and 1 burglary. <br />Mr. L'Allier reported that Mr, Myhre had done a lot of work on recommendations for <br />the police department. From these statistics Mr. L'Allier recommended the following: <br />1. Defer hiring the new part time man for two to four weeks in <br />order to make further background checks; and, increase the base <br />pay for the Assistant Constables from $100 to $125 per month. <br />
