1/10/72 <br />in the spring. He had asked the following to serve: <br />Norman Miller, Richard Cartier, Gerald Bolin, Richard Carey, Mrs. Mary Gould. <br />Mr. Jaworski moved to accept the nominations. Seconded by Mrs. Swanson. Carried <br />unanimously. <br />Mr. Bohjanen noted that the Environmental Commission was established just at the <br />closing of last year and just to reaffirm it he listed the names: Arthur <br />Hawkins, 3 -year term, Gerald Clausen, 3 -year term, Arthur Robyn, 2 -year term, <br />Mrs. Clifton Brisson, 2 -year term, Mrs. Delbert Sawyer, 1 -year term. Mr. <br />Cardinal moved to confirm these members. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried <br />unanimously. <br />Community & Business Development Committee <br />William House, Carlo Sooger, Julia Faymoville, Audrey Truer, Vivian Rehbein, <br />Crystal Allman, Richard Zelinka, Irvin Zastrow. <br />Mr. Marier moved to accept these appointments. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. <br />Carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Bohjanen gave the Council Members' Responsibilities as follows: <br />Andrew Cardinal - Chairman Joint Purchasing Committee <br />Liaison to Park Board <br />Representative to Legislature in Metro Park matters <br />Ron Jaworski <br />Don Marier <br />- Liaison to Road Department <br />Representative to Metro Transit Commission <br />Liaison to Joint Purchasing Committee <br />- Liaison to Planning and Zoning Board <br />Representative to North Suburban Sewer Service Board <br />Alternate to Anoka County Ass'n of Municipalities <br />Maxine Swanson - Liaison to Community & Business Development Committee <br />Liaison to Personnel Commission <br />Liaison to Environmental Commission <br />In Charge of Village offices <br />Bill Bohjanen - In Charge of Police, Civil Defense & Fire Departments <br />Representative to Anoka County Ass'n of Municipalities <br />Alternate to North Suburban Sewer Service Board <br />Mr, Jaworski asked what being in charge of the Village offices encompassed. Mr. <br />Bohjanen stated that there are some times when you are dealing in business it is <br />fair to have someone from the board or in charge to look in on it once in a <br />while. It doesn't mean that any other councilmen can't look in too, or the <br />Mayor. He thought it was proper to have somebody more or less in charge of the <br />office. Mr. Jaworski didn't see the need when the office has been run efficient- <br />ly in the past. Mr. Bohjanen inquired of Mr. Locher whether he could or could <br />not designate one of the Council members to be in charge of the office. Mr. <br />Locher asked if this was in an advisory capacity to the Council only and was told <br />yes, to which he replied that this was proper, providing there is no inference <br />that there is an ability to discharge or hire employees or make purchases with- <br />out consent of the Council. <br />Mr. Locher noted that if any problem wrises within the offices it is nice to <br />have someone to whom the public can be refered to as a liaison official. Mr. <br />Bohjanen noted that if he had a job where he could be free all the time he would <br />take charge of the offices himself, but as he could not, he was glad to have <br />someone on the Council who could. <br />
