200
3/13/72
Mrs. Swanson had narrowed down the possibilities for a calculator for the Asses-
sor's office to a Commodore for $245 minus 10% and a similar Sears model for
$237 minus 10 %. The Commodore electronic has a floating decimal; the Coon
Rapids offices use these and are satisfied. The Sears, model has more features
such as rounding off decimals which would be useful in fuguring the gasoline
usuage. It was noted that we should have something to use while we repair the
old machine. Mrs. Swanson said that the Commodore people would also repair
the old machine for $25 to $55. Mr. Cardinal felt that we should have a sepa-
rate machine for both the Clerk and Assessor to eliminate running back and forth
between the offices.,
Mrs. Swanson moved to buy the Sears electronic model for $237 minus 10 %. Sec-
onded by Mr, Jaworski. Glenn Rehbein suggested trying them out first as there
is a lot of difference between models. Vote: Aye -- Jaworski and Swanson; No --
Cardinal, Bohjanen and Marier. Motion failed.
Mrs. Swanson moved to buy the Commodore electronic calculator at $245 minus 10%.
Seconded by Mr. Jaworski.. Vote: Aye -- Jaworski and Swanson; No -- Cardinal,
Marier and Bohjanen. Motion failed. Mr. Marier suggested getting a Commodore
to try out.
Mrs. Swanson stated that they would discuss gasoline procedure at the net
Personnel Commission meeting. She wished to see the accounting on the gasoline
done in the office by the Clerk, and not by the Roads Supervisor.
Mrs. Swanson stated that she is still perturbed about what is going on on the
skating rinks and suggested that net year we get equipment so that we can
keep track of the money, and don't spend so much money on people cleaning rinks.
Mr. Jaworski noted that we will still need men to operate the equipment. Mrs.
Swanson couldn't see 13 and 14 years olds getting $165 and $2.65 per hour; She
was told that $1.65 is the minimum wage. Mrs. Swanson stated that another place
had 11 rinks and only 3 men to take care of the, and we have 3 rinks and 7 men
working on them.
Mr. Locher had received a letter from the Clerk of Court concerning the Safe -
ways Movers case decision. He read the letter which stated that the man had
been found guility and fined $25. He may appeal.
Mr. Locher had talked to Mr. Marier and John McLean about Roger Barnes who
wants to operate a used car sales lot across from the trailer court on Hodgson
Road. This would be in the name of Myrum and Pearson; it will be discussed
further at the P&Z.
Mr. Locher had received a call from a prospective buyer of 20 acres of land
owned by Forrest Tagg on 4th Avenue. This person would like to use the barn
for storing metal parts for resale, and is thinking about putting in an office
as well later; this will go the P&Z.
Mr. Locher reported that Mr. Astrup had investigated the Richard Roberts farm
and found they had about 25 head of cattle and 100 head of hogs; the hogs are
being kept in 3 separate locations. He is feeding "a little" garbage. The
number of hogs has been reduced, but many are in evidence; however, some are
nearly ready to go to market.
Mx. Locher reported that he gone to court to show cause on Leo Bruder; Mr.
Bruder had been sentenced to 30 days in jail under the Huber Law. If Mr. Bruder
does not clean up, he will be faced with another citation. Mr. Locher noted
that he does not like to see a fellow in jail if he is working, but sometimes
it is necessary.
