3/27/72
Mr. Bohjanen said we had received 3 bids on the damage on the car, these were
from Centerville Auto Body, Kelly's Auto Body, and Skyline Auto Body. The
lowest bid was X225.55 and highest 5;301.13. He felt we should get the car
fixed. Mr. Popham inquired about the damage. Mr. Bohjanen said the damage
was to the right front fender; the other driver had been under the influence.
Mr. Locher interposed that the defendent's car might be covered. A case is
pending against this person since he bent the frame between the seats in the
squad car; he had pled not guilty. Mr. Bohjanen said the accident happened
while it was being used in the line of duty.
Mrs. Swanson stated that the Mayor had1ad a special meeting with the Police
which she had attended along with Mr. Jaworski. She was concerned about the
Policemen being involved in an accident which didn't come to the attention of
herself of the Mayor until 4 days later. The Chief of Police didn't report to
the Council members. She said there was much animosity on the Chief's part
and he was argumentative. •the said this would have to be worked out with our
Police Bepar tn ent, and they will have to retort an accident. She said that
Mr. Myhre had seen the Mayor and didn't mention it.
Mr. Jaworski said he would like to speak in favor of the Police Chief, that he
was going to tell the Mayor about the accident, but a call came in for him
and he had to leave before he could do so. Mr. Myhre had only gotten 13 hours
of sleep all week and it was hard for him to get hold of the Mayor. Mrs.
Swanson commented that if she didn't report an accident when she was working
she would have been fired.
Mr. Bohjanen noted that Mr. Myhre had reported it to the Clerk for insurance
purposes; the Clerk said this was reported the next day to her. Mr. Bohjanen
felt it was a lack of communication. Mr. Cardinal asked Mrs. Swanson if she
knew why he hadn't attended that meeting - it was because he had had a set of
twin calves born that evening. He noted that Mr. Mari ,.r had been ,tuck in the
mud on his street and couldn't make it.
Mr. Bohjanen reported thaton March 29th, the Anoka County Ass'n of Municipal-
ities will meet in the Fridley City Hall with a Metro staff member on sewers.
Mr. Bohjanen noted that on April 5th the Metro Sewer Board meeting will be at
2 p.m., he thought; he will call for the exact time.
Under old business, Mrs. Swanson asked what would be the final cost to the
Village as to putting in the lateral system. She noted that we have wrenches
coming, and asked why can't we get them right now. Mr. Cardinal said there was
no reason why we needed them now. Mr. Jaworski thought Roy had picked them up
already. Mr. Cardinal noted that the work wasn't complete yet. Mr. Locher
said that the cost of the wrenches was in the bond issue. Mr. Bohjanen said
they are ours. Mr. Jaworski was sure they were here, but he would double -
check.
Mr. Locher wondered if the wrenches would be required to be kept at the pumping
site. Ids. Jaworski said No, they will be kept here or in the pickup truck.
Mr. Cardinal thought one of each should go in the truck. Mrs. Swanson said
they have to listed on the inventory. She asked what the cost ;eras. Mr.
Cardinal thought it was (g10.50 each for the four wrenches, but didn't know the
cost of the other one.
A letter had been received from the Northwest saddle Club, stating that they
had voted to have definite plans for a permanent dwelling on their property by
July 1st, They wished to attend the P &7 meeting on April 19th to get some
help in determining where would be the most logical placement for the dwelling
217
