u
4/10/72
we have received nothing back on it yet; our next hearing before them is set
for April 19th. Mrs. Swanson stated that they will send written confirmation
of the exact time of the hearing, and that this is their regular semi - monthly
meeting.
Mr. Marier moved to table the matter of nominating a candidate for the Rice
Creek Watershed Advisory Board until we find out the outcome on the County meeting.
Seconded by Mrs. Swanson. Carried with Mr. Cardinal abstaining. Mrs. Swanson
said she would like to nominate Mr. Cardinal for the Advisory Board. Mr. Car-
dinal noted she would have to get him off the Board of Managers first. Mrs.
Swanson thought she just might do that.
Concerning the MSB's Waste Regulations, Mr. Marier felt that we have 5 items
such as parks and the comprehensive plan to take care of first, and that we
should get our house in order and then go into Metro matters. On Mr. Bohjanen's
suggestion, Mr. Marier moved to table action on the MSe Waste Regulations for
the time being and to put it on the agenda in 60 days. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal.
Carried unanimously.
Mr. Bohjanen commented on the sample ordinances on depositing snow on streets
which Mr. Locher had obtained, and wondered if we couldn't add in something on
the parking of cars or snowbirds, and hold on adopting this for a while. Mr.
Marier felt that we should be careful on that, that the roads must be open,
and we must state when we will be plowing and on what day. Mr. Cardinal said
the cars must be off the streets so that we can plow them. Mrs. Swanson didn't
feel this should'be much of a problem out here, that we should make the best of
the situation in residential areas, but, if necessary, do something about the
problem on thoroughfares.
Mr. Marier moved to table action on drafting an ordinance on depositing snow
and other items on streets, etc., until the first Council meeting in August.
Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Carried unanimously.
Mr. Bohjanen reported that, he had studied the purchase of the Centerville car,
that we are using it right along, and that now it needs tires all around; we
had had the front end lined up. He noted the original figure was $1000, but he
had found the blue book value to be $850. There was some discussion with Mr.
Bohjanen giving the mileage on the car at 73,000 miles, and Mr. Marier stating
that the only use for the extra equipment on the car was for a police car.
Mr. Cardinal moved to instruct the Clerk to write to Centerville offering them
$800 for the police car as a counter - proposal, and noting that if this figure
was not satisfactory they could take the car back. Seconded by Mrs. Swanson.
Carried unanimously.
Mr. Cape, Civil Defense Director, was asked to give a report on CD activities
for the first quarter of the year. Mr. Cape reported as follows;
1. 182 man hours of free labor given by members for the following activities.
2. Removing superstructure and paper from the float and winterizing it.
3. Building up the light trailer that will have a 2500 watt generator and 2
or more flood lights on it for use in the Village for any activities upon
approval of the Mayor. The work was on building sectional take -down
stands for the flood lights, wiring, painting, ventilation for the motor.
Some of the hardware was furnished by the members, cutting cost to Village
