46
March 22, 1976
Mr. Zelinka seconded Mr. Schneider's motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Zelinka said part of the recommendation of the Personnel Commission was the
salary. This was to be $3.30 per hour after 30 days. Mr. McLean asked how this
figure was arrived at and Mr. Zelinka said it was in relation to what was being
paid for the Deputy Clerk.
Mr. Zelinka moved the salary for the Bookkeeper - Clerk be set at $3.30 per hour
and the hours be set at 20 hours per week not to include the meetings. Mr. Schneider
said this is within the realm of the budget. Mr. Karth seconded the motion. Motion
carried unanimously.
Mr. Zelinka reported the next meeting of the Personnel Commission is scheduled
for April 2, 1976 and they had requested that Mr. Karth attend to assist in the
job description for the Public Works Sppervisor.
Mr. Zelinka asked if a member of the Personnel Commission should be present at the
special meeting set for consideration of the petition on the Police matter? Mr.
Karth felt that one member should be present. Mr. Zelinka will contact someone.
Mr. Karth reported on his findings on the repairs of the pick up to make it safe
to drive. The cost of repairs would amount to $477.00. There was no action taken
on this matter.
Mr. McLean said he had called in a list of companies who pick up and deliver parts
outside the Metro area. This list is to be given to Mr. Volk. The estimated
cost averages around $5.00.
Mr. Karth reported on the road restrictions that have been posted by the County and
the effect this has on hauling the sewage. The truck was weighed today and Mr.
Volk was told he can haul only 2000 gallons at one time without being over the load
limit. The County has also restricted the truck from going East on Birch Street
which adds about six miles to the route. Mr. Karth had called Mr. Burman for some
assistance on this matter by either allowing more gallons to be hauled or to per-
mit the driver to use the old route. He has not had an answer as yet.
There was a suggestion, that with the extra mileage, extra time and more fuels,
the City should contact the Metro Waste Control for some assistance in this matter.
The general consensus was to work with the County Commissioner first, if that fails,
then contact the MWCC. Mr. Karth felt the City should be ready to ask the MWCC
for financial aid. Mr. Zelinka moved to authorize Mr. Karth to make the request.
There was discussion on the weight of the truck with Mr. Glenn Rehbein feeling some-
thing was wrong with the weight figures. Mr. Karth will discuss this with Mr. VOIk.
Mr. Karth reported on a letter received from Mr. Kronholm complaining on the cond-
ition of West Shadow Lake Drive. Mr. Karth had checked with Mr. Gotwald and found
this is the City's responsibility for the upkeep of that street. At the present
time it is nothing but mud.
A resident of the street said the school buses will not take the children home and
he has a five year old that must walk IZ miles home. He felt if a fire truck was
needed in that area, it could not get through. He said part of the problem is the
County employees who use the street and park in the most passable areas.
Mr. Karth said he had also talked with Mr. Burman about this and Mr. Burman was try-
