October 25, 1976
Mr. Cheesborough had presented an application for a special use permit to park a
trailer to be used as an office on his property just off Main Street west of High-
way #8. The Planning and Zoning Board felt Mr. Cheeseborough needed the signature
of his neighbor to the North and they needed more information as to the size and
type of this trailer. Mr. Cheeseborough will be on the November 17th agenda.
Mr. William Koob had presented a request for a driveway of approzimately 1200 feet.
He owns land along West Rondeau Lake Drive with more than adequate frontage but
wants to construct his home on the back portion of the acreage.
The Planning and Zoning agreed to grant a variance for the length of the driveway
provided Mr. Koob provided an easement of 60 feet in order to insure proper width
for a street in the future if the land should be developed. Mr. Koob will return
to the Planning and Zoning Board.
Mr. Cape had appeared before the Board for information on the splitting of land
he owns North of his present residence. More information as to the status of a st-
reet will be needed before a decision can be reached.
Sparkle Wash had applied for two sign permits which had been held up because of some
activities at that location. Their file had been pulled and the need for screening
was discussed. Mr. Sternberg agreed to planttrees for screening purposes and the
vehicles accumulating in the rear of the building will be removed. The sign per-
mits will be approved when payment is received.
Mr. Harold Hansen of Otter Lake had presented a concept for the development of prop-
erty he owns. Since this is merely a concept, the maps are to be sent to the Eng-
ineer and Planner for comment. Mr. Hansen had applied for a variance for the souther-
ly most lot. The Planning and Zoning Board had recommended approval of this var-
iance with the stipulation that every effort be made to include this lot in the final
plat of the land. Mr. McLean asked for a motion to that effect. Mr. Zelinka so
moved. Seconded by Mayor Bohjanen. Motion carried with Mr. McLean abstaining.
Mr. McLean reported on the progress of the special meetings of the Planning and
Zoning Board. The Planner and Engineer have met informally with the Metropolitan
Council Staff. The Attorney has been asked to attend the meeting scheduled for
October 27, 1976. The Planning and Zoning is trying to put a package together for
Council consideration and review before the final packaging. One of the main tools
of this package will be the soil map.
Mr. Schneider was not quite clear on the instructions to the Park Board in regards
to the Sunset Oaks Plat and the parks in in that project.
Mr. McLean said no layout was requested - just a list of the requrements and equip-
ment. Developer is to layout the Park and equipment over a phased development with
not further damands from the City.
Mr. Karth had no reports from the Road Department. The County is working on West
Shadow Lake Drive and it is progressing.
The Clerk reported that Mr. David Torkildson had called seeking information for
the private operation of the Club House on the North end of the Lake. There was
some discussion on the operation of the golf course. Mr. Karth suggested asking
Mr. Torkildson to attend the November 8, 1976 Council meeting for discussion of
this.
1
