16
The Clerk asked for clarification since she had received a call from another source
on putting up a prefab and was told that the permits were for the above builder
only. In answer to Mr. Cardinal's question, the Clerk stated that nothing had
been received from Clay Westin.
Mr. Cardinal mentioned that he had received phone calls about a newspaper report
stating that if we get the right people in office, Centerville and Lino Lakes
would annex. Mr. Locher gave the details necessary for an annexation procedure:
a petition hearing, commission orders, an election in both municipalities requiring
a majority in both, and finally agreement by both councils. Mr. L'Allier noted
that he was aware of this report, that any such arrangement would be both unrealistic
and unacceptable, that Lino Lakes had enough growing pains of our own and that we
don't need any additional problems. He felt that we should retain every square
inch of our own property and be proud of our community.
The Clerk was instructed to give Ken Rehbein a letter enabling him to get building
permits for the prefabs with a carbon copy to be sent to the Planning Board. Also
a letter should go to the P&Z giving our reasons for the decision.
Mr. Sutliff asked whether we owned a piece of land in Blaine since he had been told
so at the time he was constable. Mr. Locher will be glad to check a map supposedly
showing this.
Mr. Rosengren reported that the crew had demolished the garage on Sunset. Mr. Backlin
reported that the requested street signs had been put up and that they were nearly
done gravelling. They discussed a piece of road between Centerville and 35E,
which needed gravel, as to whether it was ours to maintain or not. Fran Burquets
culvert was for a piece of extended road on 64th; this would be left for the
Engineer. Mr. L'Allier asked if the lots by the garage on Sunset would be cleaned
up. Mr. Backlin replied that they were leaving one row of blocks on the footing
and would burn the wood and cut the lots. Mr. Backlin stated thatthe "Randeau
Road" sign had been put up by a construction company --he will ask Herb Schmuck for
the name.
Mr. Rosengren again mentioned the signs which Meyer Sign Company had offered to put
up for the business area. They now have one location and are trying to get another.
These will be reflectorized. Mr. Rosengren stated that they needed about 10 rolls
of snowfence and some posts. The hockey rink is up and graded. He had had a
request for culverts from Al Robinson on Pine Street.
Mr. L'Allier mentioned that he had talked with Mr. Highland of the State Road
Department who stated that contracts will be granted for work on 35E in December
for the end at 35W, the work to be completed in October, 1970. Also, 14 and 80th
will be closed off with an alternate route, and concrete approaches on both bridges.
Mr. Backlin stated that the culvert on 80th was clean now
Mr. Sutliff complained about the seal- coating job which had been done in the Lake-
view area. Mr. Rosengren agreed that there were some bad spots, but that he hadn't
been notified when the contractor was coming and couldn't keep an eye on things.
It was decided that at a future meeting guidelines for such work will be set up with
Mr. Gotwald's advice.
Mr. Bohjanen mentioned that he had received good comments on the fire department
report we got from Lexington. Mr. Bohjanen moved that we send a letter to Center-
ville asking them for a quarterly fire department report. Seconded by Mr. L'Allier.
Carried.
