2 4
Metro Council about this and had been told that if we purchased it we would not
be eligible for reimbursement under the main plan but that some programs would
reimburse the cost. Mr. Gotwald also stated that it would take until October 15,
1971, for money to be received from a Federal grant. Mr. Cardinal stated that if
we did not take up this option, then the price would be higher. Mr. Gotwald
felt that for only $10- $15,000 it would not pay to bother with the Federal
Government. Also, the Metro Council had seemed favorable to the proposal for a
park on Lake Amelia since it fits their overall plan; they will have to approve
the plans also. Mr. Gotwald also stated that if we got Federal financing for
the park, then we would be eligible for another 25% from the State. There was
some discussion on the present Centerville Lake Park, etc. Mr. Bohjanen felt
that the Park Board should study Mr. Hawkins letter and the proposal before a
decision is made. Mr. Gotwald mentioned that if we purchase the land we can
use it for any purpose but if we get Federal funds, then we are tied down to
park usage only.
After more discussion, Mr. Cardinal moved that Lino Lakes adopt the following
resolution:
WHEREAS, the Village Council, of the Village of Lino Lakes, Anoka County
Minnesota, proposes to purchase, for said Village, by Contract for Deed,
certain real property containing 25.4 acres situate in the Village of
Lino Lakes, from Louis J. Molitor and Esther A. Molitor, husband and
wife, for the total sum of $13,970.00; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes Annotated, Chapter 412.221, Subd. 2 authorizes
the said Village Council to purchase real property under a Contract for
Deed, now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Village Council of the Village of Lino Lakes, Anoka
County, Minnesota as follows:
1. The Village Council hereby determines that following the expiration of
10 days after publication of this resolution in the official newspaper of
the Village of Lino Lakes, the Village will enter into a Contract for Deed
in the sum of $13,970.00 payable over a period of not to exceed five years
to purchase real property situate in Lino Lakes from Louis J. Molitor and
Esther A. Molitor, husband and wife,
2. The Village Clerk- Treasurer is hereby directed to publish this resolution
in the official newspaper of the Village of Lino Lakes, An November 14,
1969 pursuant to the requirements of Minnesota Statutes Annotated, Chapter
412.221, Subd. 2.
Seconded by Mr. Rosengren. The motion carried with the vote as follows: Ayes,
Mr. Cardinal, Mr. Rosengren and Mr. L'Allier, based on the recommendation of the
Park Board; No, Mr. Bohjanen, who felt that the proposal should go back to the
Park Board. Mr. Gotwald was told to go ahead with the survey on the property
and have this ready by the next meeting.
Mr. Rosengren reported that they had gravelled the East County Line, 80th before
the freeway, Second Avenue, and stockpiled several loads of gravel. They had
also done the short road on the East side of Centerville, with costs to be split
5Q -59 with Centerville. They have purchased ten rolls of snowfence and are
putting it up.
Mr. Rosengren mentioned that Meyer Sign Company has one sign ready and would put
this up on the Faymoville property the next day. He had also inspected the new
Coop building in New Brighton which is a building similar to what ours will be.
