1
1
63.
action on a golf course in Qneka where it was felt that since the golf course was a
public playground that some consideration should be given to this land. There
was some discussion on this. A Park Board representative will be at the P&Z hearing.
Mr. Locher stated that he had prepared the publications for the rezoning and the
hearings on the plat and that notices had been mailed. He mentioned that one parcel
had been listed to another owner but they had a contract for deed with U.S. Lakes
Development. The Clerk was instructed to see that these recommendations and
observations be set out and transmitted to the P&Z with copies to the Council.
Mr. Langness stated that if no bids were received on the bonds, he would let us know
in advance.
Mr. Jaworski reported that they had no ice at Lino Park due to the pump burning out.
Mr. Backlin stated that Mr. Ludwig had pulled the pump and estimated that it would
cost $230 —$240 to fix it. This would include a new meter, box, etc. Mr. Jaworski
moved that the pump be fixed. Seconded by Mr. L'Allier. Carried unanimously.
Mr. Jaworski stated that there is ice on both rinks at Sunrise Park, that the lights
are up and working. A pee wee hockey league for 4th, 5th and 6th graders has been
formed and he asked the papers to solicit help with the league. Practice is scheduled
after each game; interested persons can call Mr. Jaworski for information. Mr. L'Allier
noted that Mr. Jaworski has been working with the kids and that we owe him our thanks.
Mr. Bohjanen asked Mr. Rosengren if he had checked the street light to go in on Sunset
and 135W. Mr. Rosengren will call NSP and locate the site for the best light advantage.
Mr. Rosengren reported that the roads were okay. The Building Committee had met the
previous Thursday and will contact builders on Saturdays and set another meeting after
that. He asked that the papers mention that interested persons can call members of
the Committee.
The Clerk was also asked to send a letter to Elwood West for his service as Constable.
Mr. Rosengren stated that he hoped to have the information on the tandem truck by next
time
Mr. L'Allier stated that he and Mr. Gotwald had attended the Metro Sewer Board hearing
and asked Mr. Gotwald to comment on the hearing. Mr. Gotwald stated that most of the
communities had been represented, that most were interested in the financing but
there was nothing on that. They had discussed water and river standards, the effects
of zoning, treatment plants, etc. He felt that most of the people seemed to agree
with the policies. The north Anoka communities disagreed with the boundary lines
as being too close to Anoka and felt that the lines should be redrawn further out
from Anoka. Representatives of Minneapolis, St. Paul and Brooklyn Park liked all
except the proposed plant above the cities. The Board intends to take over the inter-
ceptor system and will take over some of the bigger lines by next January 1, earlier
than required. Mr. Gotwald noted that the letter from the Sewer Board requesting
meter information could be disregarded since we have no meters. There was some
discussion.
Mr. L'Allier asked that a letter from Mr. Steffen be read. This gave tentative
estimated costs for policing the 3-Village area at $124,231.00 which comes to
$40,000 for each Village. Mr. L'Allier noted that we had budgeted $16,000 for
policing this year based on the old county estimate in case we should decide to
accept it. He has talked with the Mayor of Circle Pines and the new Mayor of
Lexington; they will meet the following evening at 9:30 in Circle Pines. Copies
of the letter will be made for the Council.
