The new rates will go into effect on July lat. <br />Mr. Jaworeki stated that he was afraid of the proposed ordinance since it <br />would give North Central an open book to increase their rates whenever they <br />like. Mfr. Blaylock mentioned the group which had been formed to keep a watch <br />.on Mkinnegasoo. Rep. Plaiaance mentioned that he had authored a bill for a committee <br />to control rates anf felt that if it could gave gotten out of committee, it <br />would have passed. He is going to introduce a similar bill in the next session. <br />Mi. Jaworski stated that the City of Coon Rapids had spent $5000 for an audit <br />of North Central which had found that their earnings were considerably higher <br />than had been reported by the company. <br />There was some further discussion on the matter. The Clerk was asked to make <br />copies of North Central's letter for the Council members. Mr. Jaworski moved to <br />table discussion on North Central's proposed ordinance for study and to authorise <br />the Attorney to study the changes in the proposed ordinance compared with our <br />contract, Seconded by MIr. Cardinal. Carried unanimously. <br />The Park Board minutes were read. The Board had requested permission to purchase <br />two Saddle Nate toys, a Duck and a Poppy, for Sunrise Park on a test basis. Mr. <br />Jaworski showed pictures of the equipment; the cost if $76 each installed. Mr. <br />L'A11ier noted that the park board had planned to purchase some equipment each <br />year. Mi. Jaworski stated that thin sort of toy is nearly indestrictable; being <br />made of light aluminum and counted on coil springs, and is guaranteed. *. <br />Jaworski moved to purchase the two toys as recommended by the Park Board. <br />Seconded by-Mi. Cardinal. Carried unanimously/ <br />Mi. Jaworski also mentioned that he would like to purchase a spray painter <br />for the Parks Dept. but was asked to get estimates by the next meeting. <br />M[r. L'Allier stated that Engineer Gotwald had studied the map shown by the Metro <br />Park and Open Space Board and had found several sites listed as lowlands which <br />were not. Mtayor L'Allier read the message which he had delivered to the Park <br />Board on May28th,. stating that our objection was tax inequities. The proposed <br />plan would encompass about 35% of our land area or about 7,000 acres besides <br />six lakes. Mr. L'Allier discussed prior action which had been taken on this <br />and the need for different legislation to clear the tax problems. <br />MEr. Rosengren moved that the Roads Dept. purohaae a new bucket for the tractor <br />at a cost of $160. Seconded by Mir. Cardinal. Carried unanimously. <br />1 <br />Mir. Rosengren stated that the old pumphouse South of Centerville Lake was being <br />torn down and it was expeoted that the rubble would be placed on Peltier Drive. <br />After discussion on dust control, Mir. Cardinal moved that the Engineer be auth- <br />orized to go over the roads with Mi. Rosengren to see how much dust solution will <br />be needed; also that the Village Road Dept. try to do the work themselves this <br />time; but, if they are unable to, to have the company do it. Seconded by Mks. <br />Jaworski. Carried unanimously. Mr. Rosengren turned in the charges for road <br />work to be paid for by Oneka Township. <br />Mi. Bohjanen stated that Mir. Blaylock had brought the flag for presentation. <br />Mir. Blaylock said that this flag had been purchased by the GOP organization <br />through Clark MacGregor and had flown over the Capitol. He stated that he was <br />proud to present this flag of the United States and that, whenever he looks at the <br />flag, he thinks of the millions of men and women in and out of the armed forges <br />
