The Clerk was asked to write a letter to the GOP Club thanking them
for the presentation.
W. Bohjanen reported that the VFW had sold the flag which was purchased for the
Village and would get a_ larger one instead. If the Village wishes, the VFW will
get an all-weather flag for the Hall; this would require lighting. W. Rosengren
noted that it was hard to get someone to put up,a flag in daylight hours with only
part time help.
W. Bohjanen stated that he had talked with the Minnesota Emblem Co. abput making
up a Village flag to hang on the wall at the new building in time for the opening.
He passed around the proposed drawing for the buttons, similar to the flag design
with the herons. He stated that it was normal to have a flexible date for the first
year's celebration. He thought that a sheet of information on the Village could be
handed out with the buttons.. There was some discussion as to cost, sales tax, dancing,
etc. W. Locher stated that they would have to have a totally separate group to be
able to sell beer. They could incorporate a Chamber of Commerce and he would be glad
to give us information on requirements. The Village oan spend no funds on such a
group --this is paid for by the businessmen. W. Bohjanen stated that he still had
nothing definite on a carnival since we have no. set date. They have to know far
ahead in order to get insurance, etc.
W. Gotwald states umrc it we try to pin the contractor down to a definite completion
date it will cost from 15% to 20% more on the bid amount; however, we could ask
,them to put expected beginning and completion dates on the bids. Mr. Bohjanen stated
that he would wait until the next meeting to see if a date could beset; it takes 10
days to get the buttons after the order is placed.
Mr. L'Allier stated that the Clerk will write to. the Superintendents of School .
Districts #12 and,#831 asking them to previde adult school patrol personnel for
any crossings in their districts which lie in Lino Lakes. No work on the Open
Space decision had been received yet.
Mr. Cardinal moved, upon Mr. Gotwald's approval and recommendation, to approve a
request by Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. to place buried cable in County roads
in the Southeast part of the Village, to wit: Centerville Road, Birch Street, Ash
Street, County 54 and the North County Line. Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen.
Mr. Denny.Houlp stated that the line was already buried on Centerville Road. Mr.
Burman was asked if he knew whether the County had given approval to these lines
as was indicated on the application; he hadn't heard of the request, but assumed
that approval had come from the County Engineer. Mr. Rosengren mentioned that
when NW Bell had done similar work on 4th Avenue, they had damaged a.culvert for
which they will be required to pay at the time 4th Avenue is blaoktopped. The
vote on,the above motion was taken -- it carried unanimously.
Mr. Jaworski moved that a oopy.of Ordinance No. 49 be sent to Northwestern Bell
along with a letter reminding them of said ordinance and advising them that we will
be obliged to prosecute if they proceed on similar work without approval in the
future.
