Mdr. Locher confirmed the fact that no new deductions could be allowed than those
presented with the base bid based on our specifications. However, additions are
allowed since we would be requesting them and they would not lower the bid amount.
. Gotwald proceeded to.read the Krueger deductions which were not acceptable.
W. Coyle proposed that the canopies be changed to 6' all around so that the
extension beams needed for the wider canopies would not be necessary as they would
show, not being covered like the ones for 6' canopies. He stated that over $2,000
could be deducted if they changed to 6'; also they had originally deducted some
$4,000 for soft material because the Krueger people would do the work. W. L'Allier
noted that the Council had decided on Monday night to leavy the canopy widths as
originally planned rather than change the bidding specs.
Mr. Coyle questioned whether we would get our money's worth out of the lined ceiling
in the garage area. He stated that Butler's insulation had a hard aluminum finish
which can be washed. Also the liner gives bad echo effects. He felt that the 8"
insulation was cheaper material and gave some details on what Butler had in comparison.
There was discussion on the virtues of 8" versus 3" insulation.
W. Krueger was asked for his additional items. W. Ken Skoglund, representing
Mr. Krueger, stated that the sidewalks, aprons and grade beam addition would be $2,200.
W. Skoglund stated that they would install American Standard plumbing fixtures,
a Troid heating system, with 2 units in the garage and a 160,000 BTU unit for the
rest of the area. The air conditioning unit would use the same lines. A 4 -ton
unit would be installed for the whole non - garage area plus a 1 -1/2 ton unit in the
Council chambers.
Mr. Skoglund said that they would back all the panelling; would provide 200 amp
electric service, Formica counter tops in the Clerk's office, bathrooms, and coffee
bar would be provided. They would also put in all bathroom accessories, all doors
and necessary hardware, also the vanity, mirrors, etc.
They would put in everything called for in the coffee bar; the overhead garage doors
would be fibreglass, but the bottom panel in these doors probably would not be steel.
There will be a 75 gallon gas water heater; water closets, sinks, eta. as called for
will be provided. The restrooins will be finished to the sheetrock. They had put
in a deduct for vanity, etc. since, they didn't feel we would put in these items
until the ceramics were installed..
Mr. Skoglund mentioned that the plumbing would be done by Ron Grander of Hugo,
the heating.by McGrath of Forest Lake and the electric by Rivard of Centerville. The
duct work will be in the floor for both heating and air conditioning. ,
W. Coyle stated that a blanket of insulation would go around the building where
it meets the floating slab; also the bottom panel overlaps the slab. W. Krueger
stated that we could have any type of brick we want. The inside panelling would
be 250sq. ft. as called for in the specs. There would be insulation on the
division walls. W. Coyle showed pictures of the Butler, windows and panels, including
their monopanel.
Mr. Krueger stated that there would be no base trim until carpeting was installed;
the.interior doors could be of oak, mahogany, or birch to match the interior
paneling. The outside doors are plate glass, not insulated, having closers on
them.
1
1
1
