1
1
1
11/23/70
Mr. Jaworeki stated that he had attended a meeting on the Comprehensive Health Dept. for
Anoka County last week, and reported on what this consists of. If this Health Dept. is
set up, it will eliminate each individual health department in the county. Lino Lakes
had sent a resolution favoring this; it looks promising. The Department would hire four
new men if formed; it would be paid for en a country -wide tax basis.
Mr. L'Allier requested the Clerk to write to the County requesting the date that they anti-
cipate that the Comprehensive Health Board will be set up and will undertake the function
of the municipality regarding health inspection.
Mr. Jaworski reported that he had made an error last time, namely that $75 would not be
enoughto purchase the lights for the hockey rink. He had found that the lights would
cost closer to $50 each plus installation; also another light will be put up at Lino Park.
After discussion, W. Bohjanen moved to get the additional lights, with the cost not to
exceed X800 for the three lights. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried unanimously.
Mr. Bohjanen mentioned that the 21st of November had gone by, that the building was not
completed and that they had postponed the date of the opening. There was a discussion
on the possible date of completion of the building; Mr. Bohjanen noted that the official
plaque was being made and would be placed on the right side of the main door.
Mr. L'Allier mentioned that he had attended the last County Assn meeting; they are going
tt create a sub - committee to work on joint purchasing for all the municipalities in the
County, and perhaps work jointly with other counties on sharing road equipment, etc. He
asked for a volunteer to serve on the sub - committee.
Mr. L'Allier also mentioned that there would be a meeting of the Metro Council on the site
for the new airport tomorrow evening at 7:30, and thought that we should go on record
favoring the Ham Lake site since it appears at this point the site must be either at
Ham Lake or not in Anoka County. Mr. Jaworski moved that we go on record favoring the Ham
Lake site for the new international airport, and that a telegram so stating be sent to
the Chairman of the Metro Council tomorrow in time for the eveningmeeting. Seconded by
Mr. Rosengren. Carried unanimously. It was noted that the Governor will be making
appointments after the first of the year which may change the vote on the Metro Council.
Mr. L'Allier read the October police report as follows: Miles driven -- 2,449.1; Home
and Business checks -- 242; Complaints -- 19; Assists to/by other depts -- 12; Escapees
from Youth Center -- 9; Time spent on Escapees -- 2 hrs; Accidents -- 7; Theft cases -- 3;
Acts of Vandalism -- 2; Domestic -- 1; Medical -- 1; Fire Call -- 1; Lost Animal -- 1;
Stolen Property Recovered (Automobile) -- 1.
W. Rosengren asked W. Locher what he had come up with on the truck bids. W. Locher
stated that both the truck bids exceeded the specifications and were comparable, and
commented on•the warranties. Mr. Locher noted that there was a difference in gas capacity;
The International having only a 31 gallon tank, while the Chev had a 50 gallon tank plus
a 21 gallon seep tank. Mr. Rosengren noted that we would need more than a 31 gallon tank
for snow plowing. Mr. Locher stated that the price difference on the two trucks 'was $111.54
with Merit Chev lower for a cash price. Delivery was 75 -90 days on the International and
approximately 90 days from Merit. Mr. Locher felt that the alternate bid was too great
in difference, that it should be open to a competitive bid on the 427' since'the price
was considerably higher. These bids could be rejected, specs re- drawn, and bids mailed
out. Mr. Rosengren asked how one would draw the line on mailing out bids; Dodge was
not interested; only 2 bids had been received. Mr. Locher stated that we could purchase
this alternate truck if an emergency existed; some members felt an emergency did exist.
