12/28/70
4, 0 3
Mr. Locher noted that under Section H.2, or Ordinance No. 51, only one 65 foot sign
would be allowed, although a shorter sign could also be put up without a variance
to the ordinance. Mr. L'Allier noted that this was a matter of precedent for a 100
foot sign. Mr. Bohjanen felt that he would rather see ' higher sign, than
signs side by side; he would rather see the two signs on the samecpost than separately.
W. Cardinal thought it would be better to have more smaller signs than such large
ones.
After more discussion, Mr. Bohjanen moved to grant a variance for a 100 foot sign to
Skelly Oil, utilizing a food sign at 65 feet, providing that the original sign were
removed. The motion died for lack of a second.
Mr. Cardinal moved that the matter be brought back to the P&Z for mare discussion,
allowing members to review the site_ersonally. The Clerk will contact Mir. McLean
to put this on the next P&Z agenda. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried unanimously.
Mr. Winters offered to make the boom truck available for the Council's use.
Mr. L cher noted that the hearing for Lee Smith was called for 9 P.M. rather than
8:30 P.M. as stated on the agenda.
Ni. Cardinal moved that a letter be written to the State Highway Department advising
them that snowmobiles are crossing 135E through gaps in the freeway fence at 64th
Street, and asking the Department to close the fence or put up barricades to prevent
this hazardous condition. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried unanimously.
Mr. Jaworski reported that the Park Board meeting could not be held on. the 21st
because of the special meeting --they would meet later. He noted that the refuse on
Mr. Rosengren's property had been cleaned up. The Clerk mentioned that official
notice had not yet been received on this from the County Health Department. Mi.
Jaworski stated that both ice rinks were in good. shape.
Mr. Rosengren reported that he had received a letter from the County Highway Depart-
ment stating that an inspection of the bridge on 80th over Hardwood Creek had shown
loose bolts, etc. There was some question on whose responsibility the bridte was.
Denny Houle stated that the township had built it so it belongs to the Village. The
Council concurred in this conclusion. Mr. Rosengren moved to have Mr. Gotwald look
at the bridge; if the needed work was routine we would do it; if otherwise, the
matter should be reported back to the Council for consideration. Seconded by Mr.
Cardinal. Carried unanimously.
Mr. Rosengren stated that the new truck was about completed and would be done in a
few days. The water pump had gone out in the other truck today and was repaired.
He stated that the fellows had been moving small stuff out of the garage today; he
did not wish to see us pay another month's rent. Mr. Bohjanen noted that we must
still meet with.Mattson.
Mr. Rosengren mentioned that the painter was done; however, the carpeting had to be
ordered from the factory as there had not been enough in stock --it was to be instal-
led this week. He stated that Mr. Gotwald would. check on the exhaust fans; the
State electrical inspector was out today - -some small items have to be changed.
There was discussion on the moving date and whether notice of further rent should
be handled with Mr. Breasted. Members volunteered to help move the furniture; Mr.
Cardinal will supply his truck and loader. It was decided to discuss the matter
later on in the meeting.
Mr. Rosengren noted that there was no mailbox at the new Hall and small signs are
ceded over the doors. He stated that he had received a complaint of a mailbox being
inocked down on Sunrise, but inspection had shown that the Village truck could not
have caused the damage.
