The bridge on Aqua Lane had been blacktopped. The work on West Rondeau_was <br />finished, covered with a light coat of gravel and the shoulders seeded. <br />Additional gravel had been put on Pine and Fourth. Mr. Rosengren thought <br />80th would hold out until spring. They had spent approximately $4500 <br />for gravel; the bill from Hoekstra was $2353. <br />Mr. Macklin, representative for the sulfite liquid treatment, was in the <br />audience, but offered no comment. Mr. Rosengren stated they were stockpiling <br />the remaining gravel for driveways in the Lakeview area. Mr. L'Allier stated <br />that 80th was impassible after a rainstorm. <br />Mr. L'Allier mentioned that he had heard that there was talk of horses causing <br />damage to gravelled Village roads and invited comment from the audience. This <br />brought on a half-hour of discussion, pro and con as to damage, where one <br />could ride a horse, why some roads were worse than others irregardless of <br />horses, damage by sod-trucks, etc. The discussion was tabled until later so <br />that other business could be attended to. <br />Mr. Jaworski mentioned that a power line was going across the end of <br />Forrest Tagg's airstrip. Mr. Locher stated that one couldn't stop the com- <br />pany from going through, but they had a right to 'just cornpensation'for the <br />property lost. There was some discussion on the Elk River line coming <br />through l Mr. Locher will contact the Elk River Company. <br />Mr. Bohjanen stated that at the last C&BDC meeting they had discussed horses <br />among other things. The brochure letter was at the typists and would be ready <br />for the next meeting. Mr. Burman had been asked to look over the situation on <br />Sunset again as the contractors were not sodding on the Lino side; after he had <br />been there they agreed to sod the Lino side also. Mr. Burman had also said that <br />Birch Street east of Centerville Road will be completed, and under a new policy <br />the County will henceforth obtain necessary easements before beginning con- <br />struction on rods. <br />Mr. Dennis Wegan of Birch Street requested a variance to build on a piece of <br />property less than 2 1/2 acres in siOtek obtained from Mrs. Domning. After <br />discussion Mr. Cardinal moved to grant Mr. Wegan a variance on the property <br />having the following legal description: <br />the North 241.5 feet of the West 208.92 feet of the east 555.045 <br />feet of Northeast 1/4 of Southwest 1/4 of Section 28, Township 31, <br />Range 22, Anoka County, Minnesota, subject to Birch Street. <br />Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. Carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Cardinal presented the documents received from Mr. Cecil LaMotte necessary <br />for his variance. <br />The police report for September as follows: five escapees from the Youth <br />Center, taking 5 1/2 hours; 1 break-in, 1 domestic call, two accidents; they <br />put 939 miles on the car in 97 hours. <br />Mr. L'Allier announced that the Governor had proclaimed October to be United <br />Nations month also honoring the Declaration of Human Rights. The Mayor <br />thought that the United States and the United Nations flags should be, flown <br />on October 24, United Nations Day, on November 11, Veterans Day and on May 1 <br />Law Day, and suggested that a flag chart be made up showing all days on which <br />the flag should be flown. <br />Mr. L'Allier then moved that Lino Lakes obtain a United Nations flag; if unable <br />to obtain such free of cost, then purchase one to fly at the Hall. Seconded by <br />Mr. Rosengren. Carried. <br />
