142 <br />County Line from Highway 14 north for 80 rods. The Clerk was instructed to <br />write a letter to Oneka expressing Lino's willingness to do this work (snow <br />plowing and grading) for $14.00 per hour to be billed to Oneka. <br />Mr. Rosengren then asked about relocating Peltier Drive on the east side of <br />the lake. Several owners of property had agreed to donate property on the <br />top of the hill if the road would be discontinued to the lake. Also, the <br />present road erodes badly. Mr. Rosengren or Mr. Backlin will contact Mr. <br />Thies, who is holding out on donating any land for the road. <br />Mr. Rosengren moved to purchase the torrent pump at a base price of $396.00 <br />plus 200 feet of hose, real, etc. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Carried. <br />Mr. R. V. Ellingsen, Weed Inspector, spoke on the County meeting held on the <br />fifth of March. He stated that he had time for the inspection, but not for the <br />spraying. The County had promised to do a better job on their roads in Lino <br />Lakes concerning weeds this year. There are better laws in effect now, too, <br />concerning weeds. <br />Roy Backlin arrived from the meeting with Mr. Talbot. It was his opinion that <br />the County had changed the offer to concern only Lino Lakes, Lexington, Circle <br />Pines and Centerville. There would be one car in the area 24 hours daily, the <br />cost still estimated at $16,000. The Clerk was instructed to invite Mr. Talbot <br />to the next meeting to discuss the plan. <br />The specifications for a new police car were read and discussed. Mr. Bohjanen <br />moved that bids be let on anew police car with bids to be opened April 28 at <br />the meeting. Copies of the bid forms will be sent to l ®cal Plymouth dealers. <br />Bids are to be published in the Forest Lake paper, the Circulating Pines, <br />and the Blaine Life. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Carried. <br />Mr. Bohjanen moved that two tires be purchased for the present squad car. <br />Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried. <br />Mr. L'Allier asked for Council approval for him to vote on thefollowing leg- <br />islative proposals at the County Association meeting. <br />1) SF -857 and 858. The Legislative committee opposed 858 on statewide parks <br />and open space with 2 cigarette tax and an appointed committee; also opposed <br />857 but suggested that all monies be retained by the counties concerned. Mr. <br />Jaworski moved to authorize Mr. L'Allier to vote in opposition to both SF 857 <br />and 858, but to recommend a change in 857 that monies be retained by all counties. <br />2) H.F. 271 now in committee alloting more money for State aid roads, changing <br />the distribution formula. Mr. Rosengren moved to authorize Mr. L'Allier to <br />vote in favor of this bill. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried. <br />3) HF- -563 and SF - -664 to authorize additional bonding of 10 and 5 millions <br />on turnbacks which are not properly funded now. Motion by Mr. Bohjanen, sec- <br />onded by Mr. Cardinal to favor. Carried. <br />4) SF -1461 by Dean Nyquist, concerning the office of Sheriff of Anoka County <br />on salary and dismissal. Also Sf -1462 on appointing of County Auditor, Treasurer <br />etc. Mr. Jaworski moved to authorize Mr. L'Allier to oppose both bills, but <br />to recommend that qualifications and stipulations for elective officials be <br />added. Seconded by Mr. L'Allier. Vote: Mr. Bohjanen, no; rest aye. Carried. <br />5) A bill authorizing the County Commissioners to pay their bills within <br />III <br />throe days of their approval. Motion by Mr. Jaworski, seconded by Mr. Cardinal <br />to favor. Carried. <br />
