1
1
173
The next police meeting will be June second.
Mr. L'Allier thought that the ordinances regarding underground pipes, etc. should
be resurrected, Mr. Jaworski is working on them.
Mr. L'Allier reminded the Council that the decision on the Waldoch property would
be made at the next meeting. He also mentioned some of the things to be discussed
at the next Association meeting.
The police department will need another .357 mag. revolver for the new, fourth man,
when hired. It was thought there was one available from the County for $101.90
rather than the list $132. It was suggested that guns could be switchedbetween
the men so that another wouldn't need to be purchased. The matter was tabled for the
time being.
Mr. Locher reported that he had received copies of a property agreement on the park
land on the south side of Baldwin Lake from the St. Paul Waterworks Department. He
suggested that these be studied by the Council and also mentioned several changes
which had been made in the agreement since his talk with Mr. Segal. Three of the
copies were signed by their officials. There were comments on former proposals
with the Department on the property. Mr. Locher stated that he had told the Depart-
ment that no building permits would be issued for any of the property. Mr. Jaworski
will take the agreements before the Park Board for examination.
Mr. Locher mentioned that there were two new buildings of the structure we are con-
sidering which have been constructed on County Road 9 to Lake George by Federal Cart-
ridge. Mr. Rosengren said that he had looked at the building in the County Park
(Bunker flake); ours would have to be higher in order to accomodate the trucks, etc.
Mr. Cardinal suggested that a room be added into the proposed new building in order
to provide an office for -the Village Assessor. Mr. Rosengren noted that the County
is considering a building in this area for their road equipment -- perhaps we could
share the cost and building with them or they could pay rent for partial use of a
large one built by us.
The Clerk was asked to try again to. get Mr. Quale of Butler Building Systems to a
meeting.
Mr. Locher noted that the certificate of insurance for Mrs. Cegla of Eddie's
Liquors was for storekeepers liability and did not mention liquor liability. The
Clerk will check with Mrs. Cegla.
Mr. Locher stated that he had been in touch with Mr. John B. Pfaff who owns the
property where Mr. Smith had requested a permit for a riding stable. Mr. Pfaff's
letter of May 13 gave the rather long legal description and asked that an estimate
of the publication costs and permit charges be given him so that he could collect
this money ahead of time from Mr. Smith before he went ahead with the publication
of the notice of hearing. After discussion, Mr. Bohjanen moved that the amount of
$250.00 be deposited with the Clerk before June 4 by Mr. Pfaff so that publication
could be made in the June 6 and June 13th editions of the Blaine Life. Seconded by
Mr. Jaworski. Carried.
Mr. L'Allier asked that the Council now consider the hiring of a planner and gave
a brief resume of the costs of the three men who had appeared before the Council.
Mr. L'Allier stated that he personally preferred the latter man, Mr. VanHousen, since
he diaF,t seem to approve of a stamped -out plan for all Village the man seemed wil-
ling to help out. Since we already had some material this could be compiled and given
to him. Mr. L'Allier noted that the Council simply didn't have enough time to do all
