296
Mr. Rosengren stated that the crew had worked on Ware Road for the last week; that
the total cost might run a little less than expected. Some extra mix had been
made for use on Bald Eagle Blvd. Mr. Rosengren said that Mr. Backlin had priced
two pickup trucks at Iten Chevrolet as follows: a '66 Ford 3/4 ton, 3 speed, with
the utility box for $1395; a '65 Chev. 3/4 ton, 4 speed, with no utility box at
$1250. A discussion ensued on the state of condition of the Village pickup and
what Mr. Rosengren thought was needed. He will rough out some specifications
for equipment before the budget meetings. There were no objections to Mr. Rosen -
gren's looking at the '66 Ford.
Mr. Rosengren reported that he had gotten some material but no cost figures on a
metal building. He had also roughed out a diagram for the building, using an
overall size of 50' by 120' with about half the space to be used for meeting and
office space and the rest for shop and garage. There were several suggestions
on the roof levels, removable partitions, doors, etc. Mr. Rosengren asked how the
Council felt about letting one contractor do all the work including the well and
septic system, etc. Mr. Jaworski moved that the Clerk draw up rough specifications
from Mr. Rosengren's information and get bids on the cost of the work. Seconded
by Mr. Cardinal. Carried. The Council felt that the size (overall) should be
60 by 120 feet.
Mr. Rosengren asked Mr. Locher whether there was any other allowable way for the
Village to finance the building without going for a bond issue. Mr. Locher mentioned
that Villagers are allowed to enter into conditional sales contracts. He will
check on this as well as the length of time allowed for a contract.
It was thought that the total cost of the building, including a parking lot, might
run as high as $80,000.
Mr. L'Allier mentioned that since receiving the letter from Mr. Braastad advising
us that we would have to be out of the building by Sept. lst, he had talked to
Mr. Braastad telling him that we would like to stay until the end of the year.
Mr. Braastad consented providing that the rent be raised by $25.00 per month.
Mr. Bohjanen moved to authorize 4the paying of $175 per month rent to Mr. Braastad
from Sept. 1st until the the of the year. Seconded by Mr. Rosengren, Carried.
Mr. Rosengren discussed dust coating on 4th Ave. and stated that before the crew
could do any spraying it would be necessary to purchase a pump and spray bar --
he had no idea what this might cost. He will check on the cost of the outfit.
Mr. Gotwald discussed the use of the liquor sulfite road binder for 4th Ave. as
well as using regular road mix, etc. He estimated the cost of doing the two miles
from the Youth Center to Pine Street at $3600.00 for the sulfite if the contractor
did the work. The use of our truck and crew for the same work would out the cost
to $1800.00. This would last longer than chloride, and will stabilize even clay.
He stated that the crew could blade, roll and shoot some bituminous and oil for a
cost of $2000, but after 2 or 3 days of trucks hauling on the road, it would be
back in the same condition within one month.
Mr. Gotwald recommended the use of 4" stabilization, either bituminous or sulfite.
If Lino put on the same coating as done on Ware Road, it would cost about $8000
for two miles. He stated that if they use the sulfite binder and roll this, it
would take care of the dust problem for the remainder of the year; this would leak
out eventually and would be no problem for future oil work. This will be mentioned
in next month's cost estimates for road work.
