Carried.
The Clerk stated that the deed for the easement on the Harmer property had just
been received. Mrs. Crystal Ah3man was assured that the variance was now granted.
A letter directed to Murnane, Battis, DeLambert and Conlin, Attorneys at Law,
from Mr. Eugene R. Gere, Director of Waters, Soils and Minerals, concerning the
recommendations made a part of the dredging permit No. P.A. 68-822 issued to
U.S. Lakes Development Company for Reshanau Lake, was read. These recommendations
were for a series of soil borings and observation wells. Mr. LtAilier stated that
he had asked Mr. Gotwald to be present when these were made.
Mr. Bohjanen asked whether copies had been made of the earlier Conservation Letter
and the dredging permit. He would also like a copy of this September 4th letter.
The Clerk will check and have copies made to send to the Council. A copy of the
dredging permit for Rice Creek by U.S. Lakes had been received rather than the
one for the lake.
The Clerk read a letter from Mr. Bernard E. Steffen, County Administrator, addressed
to the Mayor, stating that the matter of taxing of municipal bonds had concerned
the County Commissioners and that they had passed a resolution and sent same to the
legislators. A copy of this resolution as well as a reply letter from Mr. Clark
MacGregor were enclosed. These were passed around.
Mr. Cardinal reported that he, Mr. Jaworski and the Building Inspector had looked
at a house in Shoreview which the owner, Perry Malvin, Jr. (and his father),
wished to have moved into the Village on a lot on the inside corner of Linda and
Laurene. Mr. Cardinal stated that the house was solid, but looked bad since
someone had broken the windows and some of the siding. Mr. Malvin is willing to
put up a sizeable amount of money to cover bringing in the house and will fix up
the house to our specifications. The house meets St. Paul and Shoreview codes.
A list of the work which they plan to do on the house was read. He thought it
was possible to fix up the outside in 30 days as the materials for same had been
acquired. It was stated that the representative of the P&Z, Mr. Glenn Rehbein,
had not been present to see the house. Mr. Cardinal thought that the stairway
from the basement should be widened this was also planned. Mr. Locher checked
the building ordinance and stated he thought that the house met the minimum floor
area requirement, however, the Building Inspector will measure. Mr. Cardinal
moved that Mr. Perry Malvin, Jr. be allowed to move the house into Lino Lakes with
the following stipulations on the building permit:
1) the outside of the house must be fixed up within 30 days.
2) the stairway from the basement must be brought up to adequate size.
3) the electrical inlet must be sized to meet our code (100 amp.)
4) the house must meet minimum code floor area.
5) the completion date for the interior work and landscaping was set
at June 1, 1970.
Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen.
