1
1
1
COUNCIL MEETING MAY 11, 1992
session, Council Members were informed of the resignation of four
(4) members. The resignations leave two (2) regular position
open and two (2) alternate positions open. Several names were
submitted at the work session for membership, two (2) of which
did express interest in serving on this committee. Mayor Reinert
suggested that a member of the Planning and Zoning Board be
appointed to one (1) position. Mr. Schumacher had checked with
several members and they were not interested. It was suggested
that two (2) members be appointed at this time and the two (2)
alternates appointed later.
Council Member Neal moved to appoint Mr. Joseph W. Schmidt and
Mr. Paul Irvine to the Consolidation Committee. Council Member
Elliott seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Council Member Elliott moved to accept the resignation of Don
Volk, Marilyn Elsenpeter, Raymond Johnson and Harold Lehmann.
Council Member Bergeson seconded the motion. Motion carried
unanimously.
Council Member Bergeson moved to officially move Bill Houle from
alternate status to regular member status. Council Member Neal
seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS
Consideration of Appointing Subcommittee Representative, Common
Ground Committee - Mr. Schumacher explained that the Common
Ground Committee was formed to look at sharing services and
equipment between the communities. It was the consensus of the
Common Ground Committee to break down into subcommittees to
review Police and Public Works. The make -up of the subcommittee
would be one (1) elected official and one (1) appropriate staff
member from each community. The subcommittee is to look at both
police and public works and come back to the committee with
options and recommendations.
Council Member Elliott moved to appoint Council Member Neal and
Council Member Kuether to the subcommittee because they are the
Police Department and Public Works Department liaisons. Council
Member Bergeson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Schumacher noted that the subcommittee will hold an
organizational meeting shortly.
NEW BUSINESS
Consideration of Gambling License for St. Joseph's Catholic
Church August Festival - Mrs. Anderson explained that each year
St. Joseph's Catholic Church holds their annual fund raiser in
PAGE 12
19
