1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION SESSION FEBRUARY 6, 1993 <br />each board or commission to be sure that all are in agreement. <br />Mrs. Farm expressed concern that there be enough staff to help <br />Mr. Asleson. Mayor Reinert explained that all of the staff is <br />stretched and the City Council is looking at ways to be more <br />efficient. He noted that the City is "bulging at the seams" and <br />this is a real dilemma. <br />Mrs. Liljedahl asked if the proposed municipal golf course would <br />be connected with the Park Board. Mayor Reinert said that it <br />could be but will depend on how the proposal develops. <br />Mr. Bourassa referred to the Dedicated Park Fund and said that it <br />is the opinion of the Park Board that this fund be used only for <br />park land acquisitions. It was noted that the City Council had <br />considered using some of the funds for park maintenance. <br />The Friends of the Parks non-profit organization was discussed. <br />Mrs. Farm explained that the involvement of neighborhood groups <br />is important. It is also important to let the citizens know that <br />they can donate money to this organization and it will be tax <br />deductible. By-laws are currently being written. <br />Mayor Reinert noted that the Marine Corp Reserves are discussing <br />an agreement with the City to survey, grade, landscape and build <br />a shelter on the unused area north of city hall. This work is <br />free and is done to promote a good image and good public <br />relations with communities. <br />Mr. Wessel noted that the Economic Development Committee is <br />working well. Council Member Bergeson asked that all potential <br />commercial development contacts be given to Mr. Wessel for follow <br />up. He will let developers know that Lino Lakes is "open for <br />business". Mr. Wessel thanked the City Council for their <br />support. <br />The Charter Commission has not met since March, 1992. A meeting <br />will be held with the City Council and the Economic Development <br />Committee to see how the current direction of the City blends <br />with the Charter. Mayor Reinert asked that all Charter <br />Commission members be given the latest updated City Charter. <br />Mayor Reinert noted that some things that have appeared in the <br />local paper recently have not been exactly true. He noted that <br />some residents take what is reported in the newspaper as gospel. <br />It is important that all news items be reported correctly. <br />Mayor Reinert noted that he has not given up on the City Charter. <br />However, he felt that the document should be reviewed from time <br />PAGE 13 <br />
