1
1
COUNCIL MEETING FEBRUARY 22, 1993
the construction of the new shelter.
Mayor Reinert asked when new programs are put in place by this
City, do we openly advertise new positions? Mr. Schumacher
explained that originally the positions are advertised and names
are accumulated. However, once an individual has held a position
(seasonal position) and is accustomed to the work, this person
may be called back without any advertising.
Mayor Reinert asked that a list of names of persons who worked
and how they were employed be provided for the next Council work
session. He noted that past experience and working relationships
are important, however, the City needs to keep an open attitude
on these positions.
Council Member Kuether asked if Resolution No. 08 - 93.could be
tabled until the next City Council meeting to allow time to
gather further information about the funding requests,
particularily Alexandra House. Mr. Schumacher explained that
Anoka County is requiring that all resolutions be at the court
house by March 1, 1993.
Council Member Elliott explained the disabled recreation program.
She noted that the money that is requested will be used to
prepare a program to assess the needs of handicapped persons in
Lino Lakes. She noted that soon this program will be mandated
and felt that it would be a good idea to establish the program
before it is mandated. Council Member Elliott said she would
like to see all those who have requested funding to get
something. She felt that logically, the Alexandra House
committment could be reduced to accomplish this goal.
Council Member Bergeson asked about the Surface Water Management
Program. Mr. Schumacher explained funding anything less that
$5,000.00 would leave a deficit balance in the fund. Taxes would
be used to fund the balance since the fund must be reimbursed
within a specified amount of time.
Council Member Kuether moved to provide the following funding:
ACCAP $2,000.00
RISE, Inc. $3,125.00
Alexandra House $1,600.00 (program)
$7,000.00 (facility)
Surface Water $5,000.00
Senior Program $10,000.00
Disabled Recreation
Program $6,500.00
PAGE 15
53
