1
COUNCIL MEETING NOVEMBER 22, 1993
of Lino Lakes and other surrounding communities. When an officer
makes an arrest and must transport the person to the jail in the
City of Anoka, Lino Lakes is sometimes without any patrolman at
all, not even for emergencies. Officers from surrounding
communities are asked to cover the City while our officer is
away. Council Member Bergeson asked if there were any plans to
construct a jail facility nearby. Sheriff Wilkinson noted
another city has expressed the same concern and he will be
looking into this matter. He asked that the City put this
concern in a letter directed to the County Commissioner
representing Lino Lakes.
Council Member Neal noted that the Minnesota Correctional
Facility on Lilac Street often has empty holding cells. He asked
if the City could use this facility. Sheriff Wilkinson said he
was not familiar with this situation but noted that the City
could make separate arrangements with the state.
The City Council thanked Sheriff Wilkinson for coming this
evening.
Robert Bening, 6788 East Shadow Lake Drive - Mr. Bening asked the
City Council to consider an ordinance that would regulate the
storage of boats and boat trailers in residential driveways. Mr. Bening said he was only
concerned about things stored in front of the house, not things
stored along side or behind the house.
PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD REPORT
Site Plan Review and Variance Request, 49 Club, 6007 Hodgson Road.
- Mr. Wessel explained that the 49 Club has requested a site plan
review and variance request to allow the construction of a
solarium along a portion of the southern and eastern exterior
walls of their building. Mr. David Nathe representing the co-
owner of the business has prepared a long term program to upgrade
the entire site.in phases. The EDAAB and the Planning and Zoning
Board has review the proposals and recommend City Council
approval of the requests.
Ms. Wyland used the overhead projector to show the proposed
improvements. She explained that the existing building is
located nine (9) feet from the south property line. The setback
PAGE 3
3 0'5
