However, Mayor
Reinert has completed two (2) full terms on the committee and
cannot be reappointed. Council Member Neal nominated Neal
Benjamin to replace Mayor Reinert on the committee. Mr.
Schumacher reminded the City Council that the Joint Powers
Agreement requires that a current Council Member be appointed to
the Steering Committee. Council Member Neal withdrew his
nomination. Council Member Neal moved to appoint Council Member
Kuether to the Steering Committee. Council Member Elliott
seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Ways and Means Committee - Mayor Reinert explained that the City
Council did not discuss this Committee. He said he had a problem
with a two (2) member Committee and suggested that the full City
Council serve as the ways and Means Committee and then at the end
of 1994 discuss the matter again. Council Member Elliott said
she felt it was a waste of staff time to present matters to the
two (2) person Ways and Means Committee and then present the same
material to the entire City Council. She said she felt it was a
waste of the Ways and Means Committee time to sit through two (2)
presentations. Council Member Elliott moved to appoint the
entire City Council as the Ways and Means Committee. Council
Member Bergeson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Circle Pines Gas Utility Commission - It was noted that the Lino
Lakes portion of the system had not grown sufficiently to add
another Lino Lakes member to the Commission. No appointment was
necessary.
Cable Commission - Council Member Elliott moved to reappoint Dan
Tesch. Council Member Neal seconded the motion. Motion carried
unanimously.
Acting Mayor - Council Member Elliott moved to appoint Council
Member Neal as Acting Mayor. Council Member Kuether seconded the
motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Capital Building Committee Chairman - Mayor Reinert noted that
this is a new committee and outlined the duties of this
committee. Council Member Elliott moved to appoint Council
Member Bergeson chairman of the Capital Building Committee.
Council Member Neal seconded the motion. Motion carried
unanimously.
City Assessor - Council Member Elliott moved to appoint Anoka
County as City assessor. Council Member Bergeson seconded the
PAGE 10
1
