DRIVE TIME STUDY: 12TH AVENUE & 1300 BLOCK
•
,OSx
Map Key
•
Lino Lakes City Limits
Existing Fire Station
New Fire Station
Drive Times
0 - 6 Minutes
6-9 Minutes
9-14 Minutes
14+ Minutes
Response Time Criteria
The following traffic response time study
maps evaluate the average drive time from the
proposed fire station location. The most widely
recognized standard for evaluating response
time is NFPA 1720 — Organization and
Deployment of Fire Suppression Operations,
Emergency Medical Operations and Special
Operations to the Public by Volunteer Fire
Departments. According to NFPA 1720 the City
of Lino Lakes would be listed as a suburban
demand zone due to the current average
density of 625 people per square mile. This
demand zone would then provide for staffing
and response time benchmark target of 10
staff at the response site within 10 minutes for
80% of fire calls. Since the total response time
includes the time for volunteers to respond to
the station and turn out, this time should be
added to the drive times shown on the following
maps when comparing to the NFPA benchmark
of 10 minutes.
Response Time Study — West Sites
The traffic study map at the left shows the
response times zones within and surrounding
the City of Lino Lakes based on the combination
of the existing Fire House #1 and a new Fire
House #2 located at either the 12th Avenue
& Birch Street site or the 1300 Block & Birch
Street property. Since both sites are only a few
blocks apart, this traffic study is valid for both
locations.
The drive time analysis indicates that this
station location would provide drive times
within the quickest two analysis regions (0-6
minute drive times and 6-9 minute drive times)
to the western two thirds of the southern part
of Lino Lakes. The areas where longer than
desired drive times are indicated include the
northeast triangle between I -35W and I -35E
extending east to the city limits which is shown
in gray representing a 9-14 minute drive time.
Additionally, the region in the southeast on the
east side of I -35E is indicated to have a 14+
minute drive time and is indicated in white.
24 Lino Lakes Fire House #2 - Site Analysis
